Newlyweds living

A wedding of local interest
was performed in East Plains
United Church, ~Burlington, on
May 4, when Shirley Elizabeth
Byrne and Gerald William
Francis ,,w--r-e united in
marriage.
Shirley is the only daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm R.
Burne of Burlingtirn -and Gerry,
is the eldest son of Dr. and
;v1rs. Glen W Francis of Hager-
sville. The groom's maternal
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Burton Mills of 2T5 Palmer-
ston St., 'Goderich.
The bride was given? in
marriage by her father, arid
wore a traditional gown of
white poie de sole, trimmed
with lace applique. The prin-
cess line skirt extended into a
cathedral train. She wore a lace
straw picture hat, and carried a
sheaf of white roses,
stephanotis. and ivy..
Her maid -of -honor was Miss
Anne Conlin of Burlington who
was gowned in apple green and
white dotted swiss complimen-
ted. by a matching green ribbon
straw picture hat. Her enserii-
hle vcias completed with yellow
"roses, daisy mums and ivv.
Mr. Brian Rice of Waterloo
attended the groom as hest
man. George Byrne -of'
Burlington• the bride's only

brother, • and Jeff Francis, "gin lv
brother of the groom were
ushers. All the gentlemen 'tri the
wedding party wore - Ox!'ord
grey tuxedos.

Club Where the bride's moi -her•
received her guest•, assisted l>y
Mrs. Francis. Mrs BvTne wore
a formal matte jersey gown in.
blossom pink, acrd the groom's
mother was similarly gowned
in turquoise. Guests attended
from Pembroke, Ottawa,
Toronto, Windsor, Waterloo,
Georgetown, Streetsville,
Welland and Hamilton.
The young couple
honeymooned in Ottawa and
Quebec City. They are both.
graduates of the University of
Guelph. In, September they will
be moving to Toronto where
Shirley -will be a dietician in-
tern at Sick Children's
Hospital, and Gerry will be. •
continuing his career with the
Bank of Nova Scotia.
