St. Francis Church in Ti bury
was the scene May 11 for the
double -ring ceremony at which
Gail Elizabeth Palmer,
Chatham, became the bride of
Peter Douglas Bettger, London.
.,Rev. C.J. Girard of Tilbury
conducted the service'before an
altar adorned with baskets of
white gladioli and daisies, fern
and lighted tapers.
The bride ig the daughter of
Mr. and . Mrs. , Charles N. -
Palmer, Chatham. Mr. and
Mrs: Harold W. Bettger,
Goderich, are the parents of the
groom.
Organist was Mrs. Kenneth
Maitloux and the -soloist was
Michael J. Sherlock.
Enterin g the church on the.
arm of her father, the bride
wore a gown of chantilly type
lace and, poly sata peau. The
semi -pleated sata peau formed -
the sleeves _and demi-bell
shaped skirt. The gown
featured a V -neckline of clip-
ped lace and mantella train
bordered. with matOing, lace.°A
matching lace Juliet a head-
dress held her chapel -length
veil and she carried a bridal
bouquet of white daisies, "white
carnations and stephanotis.
Matron of honbr was Mrs.
D inald Hillman, Nipigon.
Bridesmaids were Miss Deb'
Palmer, Chatham; Miss 'Margo
Bettger, London; and Miss
Mary Ellen Bettger, Whitby.
They wore azure blue gowns of
polyester jersey with matching
hooded jackets and carried
baskets of white daisies and
yellow, pink and blue dried
flowers.
Groomsman was William
Bettger, London. Ushers were
John Hughes, Montreal,
Quebec; Robert Wallace,
Goderich; and Peter Palmer,
Toronto.
The wedding reception was
held at Wheels Motor Inn,.
Chatham. The bride's mother
wore a floor -length gown of
ming green polyester crepe with
a pale yellow .cymbidium or-
chid. The groom's mother selec,
ted a floor -length gown of
mimosa yellow georgette with a
pale green• cvmbi'dium orchid.
Following the wedding
festivities, the bridal couple left
on a honeymoon trip to
Paradise Island at Nassau in
the Bahamas. The bride
travelled in a pastel pink pant-
suit with white accessories and
a corsage of white and pink
dried flowers.
They are living lb London.
Oul"''of-town wedding guests
were from Goderich, ,London,
Toronto, Whitby, Montreal,,
Nipigon, Thunder Bay, Sarnia,
and Windsor, and Detroit,
Chicago and the State of
Florida i"n the United states.
Several pre -nuptial parties-,
were held in honor of the
couple. Mrs. J.W. Frith and
Mrs. W.A.Walker entertained
at Mrs. Frith's home in
Goderich . for Peter and Gail.
Relatives and friends attended.
Mrs. Robert Patterson and
Miss Rita Poelman were
hostesses of a money shower
held at the Patterson's home in
Goderich for the bride -elect.
Mrs. Donald Hillman was
hostess, for a miscellaneous
shower"held•at the home of her
mother in Ridgetown.
Following the presentation of
many lovely gifts, a buffet
lurich was served.
