HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Goderich Signal-Star, 1974-06-06, Page 8PAGE S-,GODERICH SIGNAL -STAR, THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 1974 It was another week of beautiful weather, with the odd exception, and a week of ac- tivity, with no exception, here at the. 'Sunset. Now that June has arrived we hope that thw weather will remain promising and that this summer of '74, will be one worth remembering. Men's Night was held -Wed- nesday night since Tuesday night was somewhat of a "wash-out There were a few fellows who showed up Tuesday night, but, with the rain, most thought it more com- fortable to play cards in the shelter of the clubhouse. First flight . winne s for the week were, Denis Lassaline, Dave Gower and Bill Brown; Second flight winners were Hudson Warr, Stan Connelly, George. Bolton and Harold Walls. 'Third flight winners were. Ab Middel, Gerry Lassaline, Ray Cook, and Harry, Williams,,, The most honest golfer for the evening was Bob Hoy. The ladies had but one night of golf and it was certainly a fine night for golfing. Most of the ladies agreed that their scores had improved over the. previous week: First flight winners were Della Sedard, Marie Hq.ff, Isabel MacDonald and Joyce, Bolton, S Gond flight winners were Joanne Telford, Karen Scott, Pat. Clifford and Velma .Campion; Third flight winners were Betty Reid, Nancy Maggs, Jane Kerr and -Nancy Flynn. Hidden hole winners for the evening were Mary- Lytine Telford and Ronnie Varga r' Perhaps when school is,,; finally out the juniors will get out and show both the men and the ladies that they too,'are'ar- dent supporters of the game. There were some juniors 'who appeared Saturday but their number is still quite small; we' hope, however,' that it will grow. On Sunday, the Lions Referees Tournament was held at the Sunset. A number of them put in a full day of golf and activity.. Isuppose it is un- derstandable that the topics of most conversations centered around hockey, and specifically the draft choices and 'the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Some of , the referees proved 6 be as good on the greens, as they are on the icer. Low Gross winners for the day were Terry Hyatt with;,a 35, Eric- "Red" Graham with a 38, ` and Fred Kelso with a 40. The Low Net winners were Roy Richards, Tim' Elliott and Bob Shrier"who tied at 72 for eighteen holes. The most honest golfer of the day was Bill Kirkey. We hope the referees had a satisfying day and we hope to see you next year. iIope to see you -more in `74.
