Goderich juveniles
defeat Clinton 3-1
On Sunday, June ,2, the
Goderich Rotary Juveniles
defeated their biggest rival by
the score of 3'r1.
Ron (Tag) Sowerby pitched a
one hit ball game against Clin-
ton to 'win the first 'game
against them in five years.
Tag -proved to himself and to
Clinton that he is one of, or
even the beat pitcher, in the
league. He 'started out a little
shaky but settled down and
controlled rthe remaining por-
tion of the game.
Tag g ve up one run on an
error and the only hit Clinton
received during the nine in-
nings. Tag pitched. one of his
best gamesstrikirig out 15 bat-
ters.
The Rotaries went on the
field with the confidence of
knowing they were capable of
defeating Clinton.
John. Wart: struck for blood
first when his sacrifice scored
Ron Sowerby, then Jim (Tick)
Mero caused the roof to fall in
on Clinton when he hit a single
to drive in two runs. d
Doug Fisher showed that he
could steal bases 'like he did
last year, (23 stolen bases in
the '73 season). He stole the
.first base of the '74 season for
the Rotaries:
The loss to Clinton was their
first in two years. The Rotaries
next big test is against Kincar,---'
dine Sunday, June 30 in
Goderich.
The Rotaries next home
game is Sunday, June 16
against , Seaforth, another top
team in the W.O.A,A. Juvenile."
