The Institute Sunshine Sister Banquet is to be Thursday, June 6 at 1 p.m. in the Carlow Hall. This will be a pot luck luncheon and members were reminded to•bring. a corsagew}for their Sunshine Sister. Graduation banquet for Grade 8 pupils will be June 25 and Mrs. Richard Buchanan will be in charge of ,this., Mrs. Allan Stollthen in- troduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Jane Davidson of Brucefield who told f"hir work in India - and the SSonditions prevailing. By means of slides showing the beautiful -scenery and illustrating her work, iter lecture was °made 'more pleasurable. Members were pleased to have the opportunity to help in this worthwhile project. „ The meeting closed and all enjoyed a social half hour together with a delicious lunch served by the committee in NOTES FROM THE NILE its. Jack Clements Sig -M David McGee has received a position at Marathon,Ontario, as an assistant editor• of the newspaper' there. 'He hopes to stay a year and then go back to College for more studies. Mrs. Bob Clements of Tolfield, Alberta and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Clements, Pamela and Beth called on Mr. and Mrs. John Clements and Ken on Saturday evening. Les Johnston is back in (\hospital and Mrs. Lloyd. McWhinney was taken to Goderich, hospital recently.", Good health is wished forthe ones who are sick at home and in the hospital. 'This was held this term in Brookside School; Lucknow District. A splendid crowd of 4-H Girls and interested mothers and friends attended the afternoon performance. • !, Tiger Dunlop Women's In- stitute were sponsoringfour groups who did exceptionally well. Group 1 Tiger Dunlop Cover Girls with leaders Mrs. Gerald l'eaj;an and Mrs, Arnold Young presented a Skit on "Hair Care." Three of the girls in this group received County Honors which means thew-' com- p'leted six homemaking projects— Misses Bernie Etzler, Susan Feagan and Cora DeVries. Group 2 Tiger Dunlop Glamorous Gals with leacrars Mrs. Maitland Montgomery and Miss Helen Brindley presented a skit, "What makes a Girl Attractive". Two of 'the - girls in - this group received county honors —Misses Gail McMi`ch,ael ' and ,Donna Kellestine. Group 3 Tiger Dunlop. Tidy Teens with leaders Misses Ruby Brindley and Linda Mathews pixt orr a exhibition on skincare and one of the girls in this group received county honors, Miss Jeannie Rutledge. Group 4 with, leaders Mrs. Bert Dougherty and Miss Linda Dougherty, put on an ass'' exhibit,"Taking a look at your Clothes Closet". DISTRICT ANNUAL The Women's ° Institute District Annual held in Belgrave Monday, May 27 found a representation of nine ladies attending from Tiger Dunlop W,I.. Mrs.. Terence Hunter, District Director, of Tiger Dunlap W.I, as a delegate; Mrs. James Horton as a delegate; Mrs. Richard Buchanan as a delegate and ` Mrs. Tait Clark, as Curator from Tiger Dunlop 'W.I.; Mrs. Earl Sherwood as delegate. Several of the ladies presen- ted a rnusical Skit on "Health": Mrs. James Horton, Mrs, Doug McNeil, Mrs. : Richard Buchanan, Mrs. Earl Sher- wood, Mrs! Wm. Clifford, Ml's. Terence Hunter, Mrs. Gordon Kaitting with Mrs. Harm Kloeze accompanying on the accordian. • Mrs. Robert Wilson and Mrs. Gordon Kaitting were installed as auditors, and Mrs. Richard Buchanan was installed as secretary -treasurer of the District. The meeting learned that the - Lancaster aircraft Will be open for tours each weekend from June to Labor Day weekend in September. - The Legion best shot trophy will be awarded to Peter Er- skine `� of the Goderich Collegiate Rifle Club at the awards assembly at the •high Bus at Clinton )r�-Iife group active The Committee of One Million Petition under. the auspices of Alliance for Life, is' hopeful that two million signatures will be secured. Last week's write-up was headlined as a birthright petition; so that there is no con- fusion, the 'group wishes to clarify that this Petition is un- der Alliance for Life, with the help of the Pro -Life Groups across Canada. Birthright is a separate organization whose sole purpose is • to help the Mother who wishes to'carry. her baby to term; opening the door for any kind of help that ,she may need -be it medical, .legal; clerical, a' place to stay in another Province, or a tem- porary job "A free 'pregnancy " counselling service for the married or unmarried woman'' • -.0 Stratford ' Right to Life, which covers a good portion of Huron ' County, • has 8,500 signatures on the One Million Name Petitioh. Their goal is 10,000 signatures. The Information Bus in Goderich drew many volun- teers from the nursing professiort and medical professionwho willingly gave their time to inforrrOhe public on the humanity of the unborn. An Information Booth will be at the Clinton Spri•ngt-Fair this weekend with the emphasis on "There AreAlternatives To Abortion". The Alliance for Life is having their annual general meeting in Toronto on June 22: A workshop will be he at Glendon College: public speaking awards will also be presented to Wanda .Duncan in the junior division and Nancy Brubaucher at this assembly.
