Local sailing club
announce program
for would-be sailbrs
The Goderich Sailing Club W
pleased `"to announce summer
instructionprograms in sailing.
These programs are open to all
residents* of Goderich and
District and are offered to, the
cornmunity in co-operation
with the Ontario Sailing
Association and the Goderich
Recreation Board.
The. first part of the Summer
o Instruction Program is a week
long "course that is put on by
the Ontario Sailing Association
Mobile §ailing School, which
.will be in Goderich this ,year
Outing the week of July 2 - 6.
- ° The schoot consists of two
certified Ontario Association
Instructors, five petrol -class
sailing boats and a motor boat.
The -course is divided into three
sections of 15 pupils each.
"There is a morning session, an
afternoon session and an:
evening
n-
evening session.
The content of 'Ontario
Sailing Associatjon is designed
to give basic instruction to the
novice sailor. In other words it
is designed to "turn people on"
to sailing. It stresses boat parts
and terrni-nology, basic sailing
techniques and safety. The
course involves .both instruc-
tion on land and sailirig ex-
perience on the water.
All,, area residents ten years
old or older who can swim are
eligible to participate in the
Ontario ,Sailing Association
course. The fees are $15.00 for
adults and $10.00 for children.
Pupils are expected to supply
their .own life jackets and deck
shoes.
Applications are on a first
come first serve basis .and the
first 45 applications that 'are
returned completed• will be ac-
cepted in the course. Ap-
plication forms cart be picked
up at the Recreation office at 9
Waterloo St. S. Goderich.
Phase II of the Instruction
Program is the Goderich
Sailing 'Club Junior Fleet
program. The Junior, F,leet is
open tp all area kids between
the ages of 10 and 18 who want
to become involved in sailing as
a sport, and recreation. The..
Goderic-}i .Club will make
available two petrol class sail
boats to the. Junior Sailing
Program.
The Fleet Captains, Tony'
Miller and Geoff Langford, are
looking forward to an exciting
summer , of helping , area
youngsters develop sailing
skills, knowledge of boats, and
principles of safe boating. The
Junior Fleet program is
designed as a follow-up to the
Ontario Sailing Association
Course and a-ny body who has
taken the OSA course, or have
equivalent skills are eligible for
membership in the Junior
Fleet. This program is free and
those interested need not have
any previous sailing experience.
Junior Fleet activities will
involve intermediate sailing in-
struction, race experience and
practical lessons in boating and
seamanship.
One of the aims of the Junior
Fleet program is to build
towards developing a group of
young, Goderich area sailors
who can enjoy and compete in,
this olympic sport. It. is- to be
stressed that the•mJunior Fleet
Program is open to all area
residents and since the
Goderich Sailing Club is
providing the._ boats those who
want to can go sailing this sum-
mer.
Deadline for 'return of ap-
plication, completed plus fee, to
the Recreation Office, 9
Waterloo St. S., is June 15th.
There can be no extension of
.the deadline.
Any young people who 'would
like more information on the
Junior Fleet and its program
should, contact either Geoff
Langford (524-2521), or Tony
Miller (482-3158). We -hope to

- I have examined the 1973 financial statements of the Corpora-
tion of the-Tori,cf,Goderich arid its local boards,which are listed on
the' attached Index. My examination included general review of
the dccounting , procedures and such tests of, accounting records and
other' supporting evidence as I considered necessary in the cir-
cumstances:" .
In m opinion these financial. statements present fairly, the
financial position of the Corporation of the Town of Goderich and its
local boards as at ' December 31st, 1973, and the results of their op-
eration for the year then ended, in accordance withaccounting prin-
ciples ,generally accepted for Ontario municipalities applied on a
basis consistent with that of the preceding year.
