Displays, built and designed by students, filled tables lining the school's balls. Student projects varied from collections to mechanical constructions. Larry Hale, coordinator ^of ,the fair and teacher , at St. Mary's, said the eprojects had one thing in common. Students were required to do the work themselves. 44I -Was pleased with the par- ticipation", he'said, explaining that emphasis was not on com- petition.. Two judges, Doug Bundy, a acher at Godera---Intrict Collej;iate Institute, and _ Al Schade, a teacher. at Victoria School, did award prizes for the best projects in two divisions. The junior division com- prised Grades 4 and -5. Students in grade fi, 7 and 8 competed in .the intermediate division, Students ,chose their own topics. Some were related to courses they took . in science classes.. I,n the, intermediate division, winners were -Beth Walton and Claudette Richard, first with a display of the earth's crust; Karin Graf and Ann Dejong, second with a'displav of flowers and• seeds; and Sandra Palmer, third with a.displav of sound.
