Auburn and Donnybrook '4,1118d Churches by PASTOR ALPRED'FRY ' The word of God tells us very plainly that the last days.."Will bedays of great deception" (2nd Timothy 3-13). And, there is no doubt that -we are living in ,the last ° days, as 'Jesus wayns 'us in His, discourse found in Matthew 4; There arethose who deny the Easter story of the -,Crucifixion of„Christ, and His Glorious Resurrection. The resurrection • of Jesus Christ is the most int, portant event of all time. Apart om it, every.assurance offered in ..t Christian Gospel •is only an empty wish. Without the resurrection, 'every. hope for this, 'and the' life: to come, is W 9nly pie in the sky. By and by, unless Christ is risen from the dead, He is no different, from any other man whc has foun- ded a religion. . The resurrection is not only basic to the Christian faith, but also •to the Christian's faith; I remember many years ago bearing a preacher sair, "Without Bethlehem, there would be no Calvary, and without Calvary, there would be no resurrection.” What • then is the Easter message all about? Simply this, that God was in Christ, recon- ciling the world unto Himself. For alW°rhae sinned and come shitrt-of the Glory of God. We are all sinners by nature and should be punished for our Sts. .Andrew's Presbyterian. sins, but Christ went to the Church in Clinton has a new Cross,. poured out His precious minister. He is Rev. He was ordained in hits home church, Knox l?resberian ,Church, Goderich, on June.21, or The N'ew Birth, as .Jesus told Nicodemas, John 3-3. Jesus must cdme to us, as Dur Ad- vocate, Our, Shepherd, Our ,Light, Our daily Bread. ,In John 10-9 Jesus says, "I am the door, by Me if any man enter in, 1 -ie shall be saved, and shall go in and out and. find pasture". There is no other''vav' to Heaven -arid .Everlasting life. Jesus says-, "If we try to enter Heaven some other way, we are thieves and. robbers. "It is almost two thousand years ago that Christ died upon the cross,' but rose victorious from the grave, this message has been proclaimed by the Christian •church ever since. Millions have died believing'in Christ, and are now waiting urt- til Christ : returns, for His Church, when the dead (in. Christ) shall rise first, 'and we who are : alive and remain • e (trusting in Jesus) shall be caught upto meet them and so shall re forever with the Lord. (1st Thessalonians 4. 16-17) It is now Easter 1974, And Jesus says "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if any man hear my voice and 'will open the door, I. will come in and sup with him." Revelation :3: '20. Christ is calli`rig' to us all° During this Easter „season,. are' we listening? What about days of deception? 'There are those who deny God's word, concer- ning the Crucifixion, Resurrec- tion, and Eternal Life, by saying "God is a God of love" and would never punish people; but God, is also a God of justice, and not willing that any should perish. But if we reject His of:, fer of Salvation through Christ, there' is no alternative, Do not listen to false. teachers, or those who write a false doctrine. Time is running out. ' In his letter the principal tells about 'Agoing : to Shillong and Calcutta to face the terrible- task of interviewing 209 needful and -deserving children to fill the 25 freeships (provided by sponsors.) available. He says, ."It was a virtually impossible task 'vfhii h thoroughly depressed me." The gentleman is certainly right whet the says we take education lightly'here. Was he deliberately' cruel .to' Lazarus? Apparently' ' not, ' for Jesus makes no men-, tion of him.abusing the''n'ran or even ob1ecting to him lying at his gate and picking up 'what was thrown from the.'ta&le. The sin of the Rioh,I Man was that-.- he never even noticed Lazarus; that he -accepted hi(n as part of the landscape, and apparently thought it was per- fectly natural and inevitable that Lazarus should be in pain and hunger while he wallowed in luxury. - Today, the sin of many of tis is that we can' look on the' world's suffering' and need, aril feelno grief or pity in our._ hearts.
