of Alymor, had a dangerous experience
with a can of sardines the other day which

of the tin showed that it had been so
chemically acted upon as to change it to a
dull color like lead. As a consequence the

John Hope, manager of the. Bow Park
Farm, Brantford, died at 4,50 Wednesday
evening. .He was in Brantford that morn
ing and, not feeling very well, drove home
at 11 o'clock. Shortly after reaching Bow
Park he waa taken with a fit of apoplexy,
iu whioh be passed away. Deceased was
manager of Bow Park stock farm for the
past 20 years and was one of the most
successful Shorthorn breeders in the
country.

A very successful operation was perform:
ed on Wednesday by Drs Wishart of
Lone on and 1-1, K. Hyudman of meter, in
the ampntating of the lower limb of Mies
Mary Tapp, daukhter of Mr Wm Tapp of
Exeter. Miss Trapp, it is well-known, has
suffered considerably of late from gang-
rene, and having lost all power and life of
the left leg, the operation was imperative
in ..order to save her lite, and the limb was
taken off near the thigh.
Now and again visitors come and go and

Court yesterday David . Caldwell was
charged with burglary. He pleaded
guilty and was sentenced to three years in.

scene in the Methodist Episcopal church
at Marysville, southeast of here, Sunday
night,
The services were held by G. B. Cham-
bers, and be was nearing the allose of the
exercise when Jim Chaveus and Alex.
Rogers came in both half drunk. Rogers
began making responses • to Chambers and
saying "Amen," when it did not fit in.
Chambers spoke kindly to him and re-
monstrated against such conduct, but with
no effect. Robert Calaway went to Rogers

at Chambers, who went on the other side

the stove and picked up the poker. When
Rogers refused to let him alone he struck

went out the door and started. home, when
Chaveus and a crowd of boys pushed him
and followed him home and during the
night mobbed the house, but he drove
them away with ague. He has since been
arrested.
