LEGION NOVICE
ALL-STARS
• The ., local Novice's All -Stars
had an inter -division .game
with Godericlh Electric of the "
Atom ,House League.
The Novice boys faired better
than was expected in , losing
only 6-4, with 3' of the Elec- -
tric's goals coming with less
than five minutes remaining
and nne,of them into an empty
net.
David Gallow notched two
goals—for the A t lhn
Peters and •Frazer A=bbott the
others. For 'Frazer it was his
first glialof the year.
Both Peters "and Abbott are
defencemen.. Dean Bowra, Tim
Lassaline, Tom Profit, Del
„;Bedard, Ron • Stoddard and
Greg Kirkconnell scored for the
Atoms.
The All -Stars will. play in
Brussels 6n Saturday at ,6:00
A •
p.m.,'in South. London Sunday
at 12:15 p.m: and in„Exeter
Tuesday at 7:t0 p.m. before
their tournament in. Listowel
on March 22.

-HOUSE LEAGUE CHAMPS .
Gardiner; Dairy, coached by

piled up five goals .in the first •
game and held off Bedford .
Hotel in the second to gain the
Novice championship.
Their victory' was even.
sweeter than usual for the .fact
that they finished last in the
standings,and had to defeat the
first and second place team;"for
the championship. g

this year.. should be thanked for
making the Year a success. It's

ATOM ALL-STARS ,
The Suncoast Suns played
twQ games last,' weekend,
defeating Lucan here Saturday
4,2 and tying Kincardine 3-3
Sunday afternoon in Kincar-
dine.
The Suns played well in both
games, playing some of their
best' hockey of the, season.
Against .Lucan, ' John Huff
and Larry Kelly'gave the Suns
a 2-0 first period' lead. Randy
Graham assisted ah Huff's
goal.
The Leprechauns then carne
back with two goals to tie it by
•the end of the second period

Jamie Shipley and Bracrley De
Graw were the Irish marksmen.
Unanswered goals by' David
Eastwood and Randy Graham
in the third period gave
Goderich the win.'Larr? Boyce,
playing well -since his• return
from an " appendectomy,
assisted on -•,bah ,the winning
and insurance goals. •
'In- Kincardine, both teams
gave a good effort and t,he,

scoreless.
The Suns jumped into a 2-0
lead in the second.on'goals by

Eastwoocl's came on a tip in

from Larry Kelly, crossed the
blueline, and caught the corner
with a fine shot. •
°The Suns ran into four
penalties in the third period.
They killed them yel , but Kin-
cardine scored twice, within a
minute to tie the 'score. Mike
Tout and Don Davidson were
the Marksmen. '•
Larry Kelly again gave the
Suns the lead, jamming the
puck in beside the post,' coming
from behind -the new Joey
Morrissey got the .assist.
Dave Tomalty- scored for
Kincardine to tie it at 3 -3, -Nand
from•there the teams battled on
even terms for the rest •of the
ame.
'Wednesday night the Suns
layed in Brussels:•'On- Satur-.
ay- they will be participating
n the Huronia I-Ioekey Atom
ournament in •Arthur...They°
ave drawn tough competition
here, meeting Kitchener- at
2:30 and PeterboroughSelect's

But Goderich Electric rallied
to tie the game as Tim

Bowra to score and put the

Both teams massed several
chances to score in the overtime
period as both , goalies Brad
Donney and Dennis Kerr

penalty box.

trophy was also 'won by the
team in overtime =- in fact, sud-
den death overtime. In a hard-
fought two game series, total..
goals, Kentucky Chicks were
able to come tArough with -a
win. Sunday afternoon 2-1.
First game Saturday morning
ended in a 2 -all tie. McIntee
Real Estate opened ..the game
with Gary Williams scoring
both goals for them" Marty
Middel and' Jeff Sowerby
° received assists on 4Gary''s
goals.
The score stayed at 2-0 until
the eight minute mark of the
third period when '8tevem-Sagir'
took Chris Knox's pass and
.skated in and blasted one' past
Steve Ruxton.
Then with less than a minute
remaining in the game, Steve
Sager got the tie goal as he
. poked the `puck in a scramble
around the Mclntee net. °
In •tbe, second game Sunday
afternoon, it was a tough one to
.lose' and the Uloss should be 'no
disgrace to the- Meintge team.
They 'gave it all they. had.
The winning goal was scored
by Kent- Tigert as Kentucky
Chickens had their power play
on and Kent beat .Mclntee's
goalie Steve Ruxton, as he had
no chance on the goal.
Kentucky opened the scoring
in the first period at the 13:59
mark. as -Tom Smithcombined
with Ron Leddy to score. •
Mike Murphy stole the
puck',•and scored . 'on a

breakaway to 4eat Paul
Bellenger in the nets for Ken-
tucky Fried Chickens to tie th
game.
In the first 10 minutes of,
overtime it was scoreless, then
in sudden death overtime, Kent
Tigert's shot won the game for
the Kentucky Fried Chickens.
Congratulations -to the run-
ner up Champions of the Con-
solation Trophy, and to both
teams and coaches who did a
wonderful job all year to help
make this a successful Novice
Division.

prcpvided for the Goderich fans
on Saturday night` when the
.;Lions played host to the' 'St„
Marys Pee Wees..
The Lions outscored St..'
Marys 4=2' in the fast moving
play.
St. Marys scored the first .
goal in the game and then
Goderich retaliated by getting
four..
Roger, Lewis and Larry Deer
began, the scoring. for the Lions
with• one goal each while
Ronon Conlon and Hobert
McDonald also tallied once
