suggestions for repairs to
snug Harbouu- were presented
to the Administrative Commit-
*. at last Thursday's meeting
by the chairman of the Harbour
Liaison Committee, Paul
Carroll.
Accompanied by the Com-
modore of the Goderich Sailing
Club, Jack Elder and last
)ear's Commodore, George
Robertson, Mr. Carroll
outlined three steps which
could be taken to improve the
harbour.
A detailed brief was given to
the councillors describing The
proposed renovations. The
Sailing Club suggested that the
repairs be done in a three-step
plan as. it would "provide a
minimum of disruption, at the
harbour during the summer
Beason and provide a
progression of improvements
economically".
Mr. barroll pointed out
through the use of charts that
die original dock lies under-"
rater -due to the high lake
level. He also mentioned that
many of the slip -docks were
worn and that perhaps a new
type, not metal, may be in-
stalled to prevent them wearing
out.
He proposed a starting date
M April but said F that he
realized the actual .date of
renovations would be left to the finished with his presentation,
Council. - Councillor Clifford pointed out
He also stressed the impor- that the suggestions just -made
tance of retaining beach and were very similar to that of Mr.

kept. The dinghy area is used Mr. Clifford -also mentioned
by small boats and is also used at the meeting that the new fee

large ships and that there may
be traffic tie-ups on the road.`
He also. mentioned his concern' John Clark
for parking cars s as there is no
real organized parking in the
area.
Because the outer dock is not
able to use fire
already available, Mr. Carroll
also hopes that some- portable
fire equipment could be sup-
plied. He noted that there havew
been several "holocausts in
North America" in the past few
years and that without the
proper facilities, it could be ex-
tremely hazardous in the area.
