A typieal answer to your
questions Will be "I am in
favour but I `will have to take it
up in ciucus". Is it any wonder
the present Ontario govern-
ment is worried about the next
election - if this_ minister is a n
example of departmental
leadership, and clear thinking
regarding his, Green Paper?
Wonder w.hat he would do if
someone suggested Wednesday
closing.
If only the government would
move with the same speed and
efficiency re so:ire hours they.
used in granting themselves a
raise in salary, this topic would
be expedited immediately. •
"This government moves in

ignofe in his Green Paper, even

to mention Mac's Milk, 'The

According to a report by Er-
nest Graves, a division engineer
with the United States Army
Corps, water levels in the upper
Great Lakes may be on the
decline by next _spring but the
danger of extensive shoreline
damage during winter storms
was still reason for concern.
Mr. Graves told of represen-
tatives subcommittee there was
still concern "because of the
severe storms which can occur
at this time of the year and the
damage which .they can cause
on vulnerable shoreline areas".
Although the levels of Upper
Lakes are declining, all but
Lake Ontario still are relatively
high, he said.
In the absence of long range
weather forecasts, Mr. Graves
said it must be assumed that
the frequency and severity, of.
storms will be the same as in
the past.
American chairman of the
International Joint Com-
mission Christian Herter
described the level of the upper
lakes as "very high."
Mr. Herter said, however, the
latest forecasts indicate that all
of the Great Lakes below Lake
Superior will have lower levels
next April than last April.
High water level in Lake
Huron has caused extensive
damage over the past year to
cottages and other shoreline
emplacements along the
Canadian shore as well,
especially in the region north of
Grand Bend along , the
shoreline 'of Huron County.
