Santa at the legion
Santa Claus and his bag of
tricks? No, Sardt,A Claus and his
lick of goodies and Mr. Albert
and his bag of tricks were the
star attractions at the Christ-
mas party held for the children
of the Canadian Legion and
associate members, Branch, .109
in Goderich. last Sunday.
Over 250. children were
thrilled with the antics of Mr.
Clown and Bozo the Clown and
Mr. Albert, a Listowel
magician and his wife who cap-
tivated the young audience.
The parents present with their
children were 'also delighted
with the entertainment and the
arrival of Santa Claus who
provided sacks of candy for all
the children.
Everyone joined in song with
Gordon Harrison playing the
piano and Bill Smith and Ari
thur "Shorty" Fouger playing
guitars. Chuck Stewart was
Master bf Ceremonies . for the
two hour party.
Barney Davis organized the
party and the men of the legion
helped Santa by bagging the
goodies for the children.

The bride was given away by
her , brother, George Arthur
Tipert of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Her attire was a beautiful
floor -length white gown trim-
med with soft lace and accen-
ted with falling pink satiny rib-
bons. '§he carried a bouquet of
white mut,ps , and miniature
sweetheart .,roses adorned ,with
breath of baby ferns.
Maid of honor was Miss
Brenda Feagan of RR 2
Goderich. She wore a . floor -
length gown of pink crimp,
featuring an A-line style with
wide collar Ansi white ac-
cessories. She wore matching
colored ribbons in her hair -and
carried a nosegay of baby
mums and daisies.
Groomsman was Fred Van-
derhaar, brother of the groom:
The groom ,and his attendant
wore $avy blazers with accen-
ting accessories.
The groom's mother received
guests wearing a ,Boor -length
gown of antique green velvet
with gold and silver bodice.
Her accessories were gold and
her corsage was of baby mums.
The reception was held at the
Little Inn in Bayfield.
For travelling the bride wore
an ensemble of -navy palazzo
pants with a white trim. Her
corsage was of red sweetheart
roses. They honeymooned in
Toronto and northern Ontario.
Prior to the wedding the
bride was feted at a shower at
the home of her mother-in-law
where she ule,st all of her neigh -
Tours -to -be. '
Guests were from Goderich,
Clinton, Port Albert, Bayfield,
London and Halifax, Nova
Scotia.
The couple will reside in
their home at RR 2 Bayfield.

On Saturday Mr. and Mrs.
Robt. Irvin were. guests at the
wedding of Beverly Curran and
Susan Nairn in St. Marys.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smithand
Bill from Molesworth visited
on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Robert"° Irvin.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Egged and
twin daughters, Megan and
Jennifer, from Mississauga
spent the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Irvine Eedy and Mar-
tha, and called on other
relatives and friends.
Sympathy is extended to
relatives and friends of the..Gib-
son family in, Stratford. Mrs.
Sydney Gibson passed away on
Wednesday, December 5, in her
"64th year. Mr. and Mrs. Sydney,
Gibson; Sr., were former
residents of this area.
Sympathy is also extended to
the relatives - of Mrs. Elwood
Atkinson who passed away in
Clinton on Saturday evening in
her 66th year. Mrs. Cecil
McNall is her daughter.
Mrs. Mervyn Lobb of Clinton
called on relatives in Dungan-
non and Lucknow on Monday.
Those who attended "Anne
of Green Gables" in Theatre
London on Saturday were
thrilled with this presentation.
Mr. and Mrs. John Lodge of
London spent a few days
holiday with the latter's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Spivak.

for Advent with one S.S. pupil
lighting the candle is im-
pressive each Sunday. Several
S.S. pupils took part in the lit-
tle play., "The Story of White
Gifts". The white gift con-
tributions are to be given to
Huron County Children's Aid
Society.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Alton and
family were pleased to have
Jack's father, Mr. Sam Alton,
home from Wingham Hospital
for Sunday afternoon and din-
ner.
Mrs. Harvey Culbert who is
recovering from shingles is now
suffering with her back. We
hope she soon improves greatly.
Also, friends here are sorry
to learn that Jack Curran is a
patient in Goderich Alexandra
Marine Hospital since Wed-
nesday. Tie was unable to . at-
tend his nephew's wedding in
St. Marys. Mrs. Jack Curran
accompanied Mr. and Mrs.
Tom Anderson of Lucknow as
guests to the Curran -Nairn
wedding on Saturday.

A beautiful, decorated
Christmas tree and candle -lit
tables welcomed the Dungan-
non Women's Institute to
Carlow Hall for their annual
Christmas party. Forty-six
members, husbands and..guests
sat down to a bountiful turkey
dinner served by members of
Carlow W.I. ,
' Favours of gay little pin
cushions for members and
mysterious parcels for
husbands and guests added to
the decorations. Everyone had
the opportunity to guess the
contents of the wrapped
packages. A great'variety of an-
swers were given. Rose Travis
won a prize for guessing the
contents — cranberries.
Clifford -Purdon was given a
prize for having a birthday
nearest the W.I. 60th anniver-
sary on January 21. -
