Handsome samples of
creativity have been evident
this fall on every wall and in
every display case, of our
school. -
Nature Art received great at-
tention • as Miss Clark's and
Miss Verhoef's boys and girls
made imaginative dancers,
birds and "you -name -it" ob-
jects from maple keys, moss
and twigs gathered on an out-,
door venture.
Mr. Schade's group displayed
little old-fashioned doll pup-
pets whose heads, upon dose
examination, were .found to be
dried apples. Quantities of
Hallowe'en pumpkin seeds
were collected by Mrs.
Stephens' class. The seeds were
eventually painted and pasted
on colourful backgrounds to
form the bodies of every kind of
animal imaginable.
Nature put in an appearance
in Mrs. Cory's display case too,
as the Kindergarten's egg -
carton caterpillars made their
creepy, crawly way across the
hall from their room.
Miss Shelley chose tongue
depressors for her class to
manipulate into house designs,
while Mrs. Leggett's little ones
ended up with very interesting
silhouette work created from
cardboard coins.
Circles, squares and triangles
of every colour and size were
evident in the jolly clowns in
Mrs. Fisher's room, and Mrs.
Hopkinson's class had some
funny costumed characters on
display, too.
Leaf collections in Mrs.
MacDonald's room, and attrac-
tive leaf prints done with chalk
borders in. Mr. Sygrove's room
bring us back to the Nature
theme prevailing throughout
our school during the first
term. Mr.' Yea's- class chose to
express the theme in fine large
paintings, while Miss Smith's
room featured a large seed
(collection).
Finally, IF we're lucky, and
IF Tammy's guinea pigs don't
get out of the cage in Mr. Rit-
chie's room, Nature will be
busy all winter long producing
roots on the plant cuttings on
Mr. Snell's, Mrs.' Finlayson's
and Mrs. Telford's window
ledges.
Who would guess that
Nature could be expressed in so
many ways! If in doubt, just
come and visit us at Victoria!
