One of the great attractions
abqut Barbados is that it is so
different. Barbados is different
is CLEAN, COOL RELAXED
STABLE and FRIENDLY in a
happy combination.
Despite the limitation of its
size - it 1s only 21 miles long by
14 miles at its widest point -
there is a great deal to see. The
roads are good. Transportation
is convenient and reliable.
A tour of the island should
start at historic Bridgetown,
but nowhere is the mellow
magic better seen and felt thane
in the wonderful countryside
with rolling hills and the lush
loveliness of the fields of sugar
cane.
There is considerable night-
time entertainment of the
native dance and calypso. hig
band heat and combo, of
moonlight nights and beach
barbecues and such other
things as crab racing, floor
shows and do-it-yourself lim-
bos.
The local cuisine features
such delicacies Is flying fish,
lobsters straight from the sea,
crane chub, pepper pot,
suckling pig and seaeggs.
And of course, Barbados runs
is a must. You can take it neat
or in a delightful mixture
called Rum Punch.
But it is for the sun and the
sea that most people come to
Barbados. Recreation starts
with the water, and the beaches
skirt every type of✓seabathing
or sport the visitor may wish-
surfing, skindiving, sailing or
just plain swimming. The' sea
also provides the fun and
challenge of the game fish.
There's lots to do on land 7o
with excellent facilities for golf,"
tennis, badminton, riding, skeet
and trap shooting and,other
sports.
Cricket is the national game.
It is ptayed from,. June to
January and • Barbadians- - are
champions at the game.
- Barbados is the Caribbean
showcase for the finest con-
sumer goods from all, ever the
world.
The City ,stores are full of
surprises for the bargain Shop-
pers. The combination of free
port prices and unusual diver-
sity of goods should- prove ex-
citing for everyone.
Barbadians take special
pride in Lod►king after their
visitors. Tourism is the'second
largest source Of income; the
first being the manufacture of
sugar and rum - the finest
sugar and the best rum to be
found anywhere.
These claims are not ex-
travagant. The Barbados motto
is "Pride and Industry" and
Barbadians have every reason
.to he proud of what they
produce and what- they have to
offer.
