Mr. and Mrs. Jack Eedy,
Michael and Laurel from
Strathroy yisited this weekend
with the former's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. H.J.L. Eedy.
Harold Campbell from
Kamloops, British Columbia,
enjoyed a two week holiday
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Dynes Campbell. He returned
by plane from London on
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Blake and
Becky 'from Cambridge (Galt)
spent the weekend at their
respective homes here and in
Goderich.'
Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Eedy
motored to Mississauga Satur-
day to visit Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Eedy and. twins Megan and
Jennifer. Being our baker, Ir-
vine doesn't have the oppor-
tunity to stay very long away
from his work and home. On
their return on Sunday visited
Mr. and Mrs. Don Aubin and
five children in Belleville, also
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ott and Mat-
thew in Kitchener.
Mr_ and Mrs. John Linton
and Alisa from Edmonton are
visiting with Mr. and Mrs. K.K.
Dawson and other members of
the family here. During the
week John is in Toronto atten-
ding a. ten-day computer
course.
On Sunday Mr. and Mrs.
K.K. Dawson had a family din-
ner at which all members of
their family were present, in-
cluding the Lintons, Mr:' and
Mrs. David Dawson, Jacquelyn
and Paul, also Mr. and Mrs.
George Dawson, Kim, Kathy
and Laurie from Goderich, and
Mrs. Olive Straughan. from
Goderich.
Alvin Sherwood recently flew
to Calgary, Alberta to a Shor-
thorn Dispersal Sale where he
purchased a valuable champion
female sow to add to his fine
herd at Carnation Stock Farms,
Dungannon.
Jim -Little and Wm. Wiggins
are in Wingham aid District
General Hospital where they
are having X-rays and tests. It
is hoped they will soon be well
enough to return home.
Mrs. Wilbur Brown,
Lucknow, is in University
Hospital in London where she
is to.have hip surgery for ar-
thritis. Friends here will be
thinking of her during the next
three .weeks in hospital.
4-H Achievement Day for
this area was held in Wingham
on Saturday November- 17. All
the girls from the local three
clubs and their leaders were in
attendance and each received,
her sterling silver teaspoon.
Mrs. Linda (Young) Culbert
received a pie server for having
completed 18 clubs. A few W.I.
members from here attended
the afternoon program. Mrs,
Maribelle Cranston received
County Honours for the com-
pletion of 12 clubs. She is a
member at St. Helen's.
The Royal Winter Fair which
is in progress in' Toronto has
attracted quite a number from
this area.

celebrating "their -50th Anniver-
sary on Wednesday, November
21.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Pannabaker on the
birth of their baby daughter,
Krista Lyn, a sister for Terry,
born November 1, 1973, in
Wingham and District
Hospital.
Mrs. Paul Henderson accom-
panied by her„ three daughters,
Heather, Jennifer and Jill and
their friend, Darlene" Taylor, all
of Mississauga visited with the
former's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Alton and other
relatives Friday to Sunday.
Sports night for parehts in ,
Ashfield and West Wawanosh
is held on the 2nd and 4th
Tuesday of each month at 8:30
p.m. in Brookside School. As an
added attraction there will be
Progressive Euchre in the
library on these nights. For -the
more athletic there isa chance
to play Volleyball or Table
Tennis or do gymnastic , Come
out and enjoy yourself. The
next Sport:; Night is to be
November 27.

Mrs. ,John Ryan has gone to
Georgetown to the home of her
daughter an.c. -son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Kidd. They,.
plan to.spend the winter mon
ths in Florida.
Mrs. Murray Oke from Scar-
borough spent several days
recently at her parental home
with- Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey
Higgins, and with Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Chisholm here, and
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
Chisholm in Goderich.
Leonard Payne, student from
Laurier University in Waterloo,
spent the weekend with% his
aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Chisholrii,' and family
and also visited his grand-
mother, Mrs. Payne in Walton.

An interesting meeting was
held at the home of Mea. C.
Cutt, Park Street, when the Ah.
meek Chapter 1.O.D.E.•. met
there on November 12 with a
large attendance.
Mrs. R. Neville, regent,
presided, and Mrs. M. Clair=
mont presented the flag in the
absence of Mrs. C. Ruffell.
Mrs. Neville welcomed the
new members, also Miss Betty
Mackenzie, who later showed a
film.
The minutes were read by
the secretary, Mrs. F. Mills,
and approved.
In business arising from the
minutes the regent thanked all.
who helped at the Rummage
Sale, which was a great success.
She also mentioned the
Remembrance Day Service.
Mrs. C. Ruffen and Mrs. G.
Henderson carried , the flags,
while Mrs. E. Sitter placed the
wreath in the regent's absence
Twelve members travelled
the Area Conference at r -
ton on October 17. Mrs.
Carrothers, Provincial Coun-
sellor, had written` to say how
pleased she was that so many
from Ahmeek had attended.
,The regent asked Mrs. M.
Holmes and Mrs. B. Chisholm
to see that posters were made
and placed in store windows for
the bake sale on November 17.
Plans were made for the sale.
The treasurer's report was
given by Mrs. G. Henderson,
showing that the chapter'had a
splendid year financially.
A letter was read from the
hospital administrator, A.E.
Elliott, thanking the chapter
for the gift of the microscope.
Mrs. Neville mentioned the'
invitations to the "Sarah Hale"
birthday party at Clinton which
the"cgroup was unable to attend.
She sent regrets.
It was voted to send a
donation to the St. John Am-
bulance Society.
Mrs. Neville reported on fh-te
meeting she had attended for
"Meals on Wheels."
Education secretary, Mrs. W.
Auld, was not present, but Mrs.
Neville gave her report.
. Services Secretary Mrs. C.
Cutt, reported that bales had
been sent to headquarters for
distribution to the North West
Territories. Also crib quilts
were taken to the Children's
Hospital in London by Mrs.
R.G. Emerson.
Three new members were
voted on, and the two who were
present took their affirmation
with Mrs. R. Neville and Mrs.
C. Murray. The new members
are Mrs. J. Wilson, Mrs. Hugill,
and Mrs. J. McKeown.
Echoes Secretary Mrs.
Overholt, gave her report.
It was, decided that the
December meeting, as usual,
will take the form of a Christ-
mas Luncheon at the Maitland
Golf and. Country Club on
December 6.
The January meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. B.
Chisholm, and the February
meeting at Mrs. C. Murray's
home.
Card Convener, Mrs. O.
Straughan, gave a good report
of cards sent to sick and shut-
ins.
Advertising was looked after
by Public Relations Secretary,
Mrs. M. Holmes, assisted by
Mrs. B. Chisholm.
The nominating committee
was appointed: Mrs. R.G.
Emerson, Mrs. W. McKee, and
Mrs. G. Henderson.
Miss Mackenzie -showed a
most interesting film for
Remembrance Day on loan
from the Royal Canadian
Legion. Mrs.. Henderson
thanked Miss Mackenzie and
presented her with a gift.
Mrs. G. Dustow thanked the
hostess for the use of her home,
and the lunch committee, Mrs.
O. Straughan and Mrs. W.
McKee.

Lucknow who had spent her
first 19 years in China. Mrs.
Hummel- ''had some ancient
Chinese costumes with her and.
while she was having the ladies
model the clothes, she told the
story about each garment,
which was very interesting.
