TV Bingo every week
on Channel 12
The first step to make Cable
Televison, Channel. 12, a truly
local medium was taken on
Monday evening when the
Goderich Lions Club held the
first series of TV Bingo games.
Beginning on Monday, and
continuing every Monday,
Lions Club Bingo will be going
into homes at Goderich and
Clinton over Channel 12. Bingo
starts at 7:30 p.m. each week
and involves six games. The
first five are double-line games
for a prize of $25 and the final
is a $100 jackpot, full card, in a
limited number of calls.
Area residents who enjoy
cable TV and would like to
take part in the weekly
television bingo may pick up
cards from Blue's Super-
market, Fincher's Smoke Shop,
Bedard's Grocery, Dobie's
Grocery and Cutt's Red and
White in Goderich or at
Day.ie's General Store in
Holmesville and Bartliff's
Bakery in Clinton. Lions Club
organizers say they hope to
have more stores in Clinton
within the next few weeks
where cards will be available.
A winner will pick up the
phone and call 4$2-9462 to
report their card. At the same
time they will be asked to read
off the serial 'number on their
card. The phone number'will be
shown on the_screen gat .all
times during the game but the
Lions urge participants rvivri:te
it on the top of their cards so it
is at hand when a prospective
winner goes to the telephone.
The Lions also -explain that
the 482-9462 number is a
private line and will be used
for bingo winners only during
the duration of the --game. -
Bruce Davies, spokesman for
Cable 12, explained that later
this year, or immediately after
the new - year, the cable
television company will be
"calling an organizational

meeting for all those persons
interested in becoming involved
with the new channel.
The studio facilities were
completed on Monday, he ex-
plained, and we will soon be
ready to turn the facilities over
to the communities of Goderich
and Clinton.
At the upcoming
organizational meeting in-
terested persons will form a
committee to direct program-
ming on the station and with
this step complete Mr. Davies
explains the keys will be turned
over by the cable company to
the local committee.
"We will be on hand to iron
out any technical difficulties
the group, or anyone producing
a program, might get into, but
programming and production
decisions will be entirely up to
the committee," he explained.
"Already we have many let-
ters from people expressing
their interest in becoming in-
volved with Cable 12," he ad-
ded.
Mr. Davies said that within
the next eight weeks the com-
pany hopes to complete service
to "98 percent of Goderich".
"There will still be isolated
areas after the new year .where
we have to run a cable down a
back alley but by the end of the
year most of the town should
have ca," ble televisioavailable
to themhe explainned.
For the moment the in-
stallation crews are tying up
loose ends, Mr:- Davies ex-
plained that crews switched to
installation of buried cable .
some time ago so they would
have that completed before
frost set in but should be back
on the aerial lines very soon.
