Dentinger opened St. Joseph's Catholic Women's League meeting held November. 5 with 23 members reciting the League Prayer and Prayer for Vocations. Mrs. John Howard presided. • Christmas cards have gone on sale at the back of the -Church. The ladies were reminded to leave their used winter clothing in Father's garage. Moose Factory Hospital needs clothing for children up to 14 years so mark boxes either Comberemere or Moose Fac- tory. Mrs. Gene Frayne will inquire into shipping expense to Moose. Factory. Religious articles for Christ- mas can now be ordered. A bake sale will be held in Lucknow some Friday in late Nov'cmber. The parish turkey bingo will be held late November , - first December. Three groups of ladies volun- teered to buy and deliver the Christmas gifts to the shut-in and over 80 of our parish. No decision was reached in regards to buying or making tables for catering. Prices were received from Stratford, Durham, Lucknow and Kincar- dine. Resolutions must be finished by December. One suggestion was bicycle safety with Mrs. Frank Riegling to collect infor- mation. - Mrs. John Howard presented Mrs. Joe Courtney past president with 'a Holy picture gift in recognition of her two year term of president. A vote was taken to have the annual Christmas meeting in the form of dining out in one of the area restaurants. Mrs. Gene Frayne will inquire into - location, date and cost. There will be no gift exchange this year. Christian Family Life con- vener, Mrs. Mark Dalton, gave an informative talk on the Festival of Life held in Ottawa_ on November 3. Seven from Kingsbridge left Stratford on Friday returning home late Saturday" On Friday evening, 1600 people attended a panel discussion "We Choose Life". Panel members were Jewish., High Anglican, Catholic, Pen- tecostal and from Canada, England and USA, British Columbia has the highest abor tion rate with Ontario second. On Saturday 2500 people walked on Parliament Hill in protest of abortion laws. A white flower was placed for each abortion recorded. Members present signed a letter written to Mr. David Lewis, leader of N.D.P. Father Dentinger spoke on the attitude towards life. There is a definite moral weakness he said. Every one must give vocal and moral support, he: advised. The meeting was cloned by prayer and Mrs. I eis Milton - burg moved for adjournment. Jack Riddell, MPP for Huron, announce the approval of a provincial grant in the amount of $2,062.50 to the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority for a preliminary engineering study for realign- ment and channel improvement .of f'.the Bayfield river at the Town of Clinton. The existing channel has sharp bends and constrictions causing obstruction by floating debris and ice. The proposed alignment of the channel will reduce the potential flood and erosion damage to the plant.
