To produce this .interesting item wind a continuous pike of starched jute rope around a cardboard form. It takes about 100 feet of heavyweight jtite, a quart of liquid starch, some cardboard, waxed paper, a needle and thread. For the form cut. cardboard triangles about 15 inches high with.a ,base of 10 to 12 inches. Tape them together so they form a pyramid shape and cover the outside with, waxed paper'. Soak the rope in undiluted starch and wrap back and forth over the form in vertical rows until there are about •six rows 'on each side. Add eight or 10 additional, rows around ,the base and then wind to the top leaving intervals xof ap- proximately one-half inch het - ween the ?spirals. While 'the rope is. still wet, hand sew with thread through the border in a wide zigzag pattern securing each of the vertical rows .where they cross. Anchor corner crossings and then allow' '''to dry completely before removing the cardboard form.'
