LARRY WALLACE
Larry Wallace, Kingsbridge's
oldest resident, died at the
Wingham and District General
Hospital' on Friday, October
26th in his 94th year. The son
of the late Patrick and Johanna
(Knightly) Wallace, he was
born in Ashfield Township on
April 9, 1880 and is the last
surviving membes of that
family.
Relatives •from a distance
who attended the wake at the
Stiles' Funeral Home in
Goderich and the funeral at St.
Joseph's church in Kingsbridge
were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Boven (Veronica Griffin) from
Prescott, Michigan and sons
Patrick and Michael •Bowen,
from Flint, Michigan. Mrs.
Winnifred(Griffin)
Beauchamp, Flint, Michigan,
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Carto,
Flint, Michigan; Mrs. Gary
Campbell, Prescott, Michigan;
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Moody,
Birch Run, Michigan; Mrs.
Robert. Miller, Flint, Michigan;
Mrs. Robert Taljonick, Otsville,
Michigan; Mrs. Walter Duggan
from Bayfield.
Honorary Pallbearers were
Patrick and Michael Boven,
Warren Carto and Maurice
Moody.
Soloists were Eugene Fravne,
Bill VanOsch and Marianne
Frayne, accompanied by
Marianne Frayrie on the organ.
Following the burial services
at the Kingsbridge cemetery,
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Drennan
served at their home` to the
relatives and : friends.
GIRL GUIDES
The 1st Kingsbridge P Girl
Guides held a Halloween party
in St. Joseph's parish hall on
Thursday, October 25 and
every girl was dressed in
costume. Names were put in a
box and drawn to declare the
winners. Marjorie O'Neill and
Joan Tigert were the lucky
ones.
Guests were Reverend Father
Dentinger, C.R. and, Brother
Carl Voll.They also dressed in
costume. •
SCHOOL NEWS
The pupils from St. Joseph's
school who were on the ex-
change trip to Maple Ridge,
British Columbia returned to
their homes here on Tuesday,
October 23.
The school soccer teams were
busedto the Soccer Tour-
nament in Wingham on Satur-
day morning. Kingsbridge
Senior Boys defeated Goderich
Senior boys 4 to 0. Colborne
Senior boys defeated the
Wingham Senior boys 2 to 1 to
win the. Senior Boys' cham-
pionship.
Kingsbridge Junior Boys
defeated the Goderich Junior.
boys 3 to 0. Wingham Junior
boys defeated the Colborne
Junior boys. Kingsbridge
.Junior boys defeated the
Wingham Junior boys 6 to 0 to
win the Junior boys' cham-
pionship.
Kingsbridge girls defeated
the Wingham girls 3 to 1.

overtime penalty kicks each,
the final score was Goderich 2,
Kingsbridge 1.

Glencoe on Thursday of last

was released from the
Wingham and District General
Hospital on Friday after being
hospitalized for 11 days with
pneumonia.
Norman O'Connor a resident
at Huronview in Clinton was
transferred to the: -;Alexandra
Marine -and General-- Hospital
in Goderich.

O'Keefe of Hamilton -spent the
weekend at the home of his
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Joe O'Keefe and
family.
Mrs. Mary Fravne has retur-
ned to her home here after
spending two Weeks visiting
with 'Mrs. Julia. Taped in
Detroit;, Joe O'Rielly and Mrs.
Ed Redfern (Gladys O'Rielly)
in Royal Oak, Michigan. Mrs.
Ed Redfern and Mrs. Joseph
Ju`rgelornis of Royal Oak,
Michigan accompanied Mrs.
Fravne to her home here and
remained for the weekend.

The G.D.t .1. girls basketball
teams played twice last week,
with the juniors winning both
their games and the seniors
losing both.
On Tuesday, at Mitchell, the
(a.D.C.1. juniors defeated Mit-.
shell 28-23. Jan Ginn had 12
points for the winners. Chris
Wildgen added eight. Marg
Kovacs, Kris Maillet and
Karen Donnelly each had two
points while Lori Keller and
Judy Cruickshank each con-
tributed one point. • r
The senior girls lost to Mit-
,'hell by a 33-23 score. They
trailed by only three points at
halftime, but Mitchell put the
game out of reach with a strong
third quarter effort.
Becky Crawford and Sally
Stringer each had six points for
D.C.I. Carol Cruickshank
',cored five, `Tanya Palmer
three, Brenda Brissette two
and Lori Beattie one for the
losers.
On Thursday, the juniors
crushed Wingham, 50-15.
Chris Wildgen played a
strong game for GDCI, ,hooping
22 points. Jan Ginn added 10,
Lori Keller eigh.l and Mary
Burns :six. Marg Kovacs and
Kris - Maillet each contributed
two points to the winning
,•ause.
'The juniors, who are coached
by Madeleine. Quick, now boast
a record of six wins and two
. losses and are assured of' a
()layoff spot. The playoffs start
today. -
The G.D.C.I. seniors lost to
Wingham 29-24. They were
down 22-15 at the end of three
quarters- and fought back to
within three points of Wingham
With less than- one minute left -
in the game, but could not com-
plete,,the come -hack attempt.
Tanya Palmer played an out-
standing game for Audrey
Howe's team, collecting "18
points. Other point getters were
Becky Crawford with three,
Brenda Brissette with two -;and -----
Sally Stringer with one -point
The G.D.C.I. teams com-
pleted regular schedule play on
Tuesday here against Exeter.

At the WOSSA cross-country
finals held lastFridai,, Peter ►�. ,
Crew of GD I `made a rine
showing, finishing fifth in a
field of one hundred and ten
runners.
The winning ,time was 13
minutes three seconds. Peter's
time was 13 minutes 41
seconds.
Michael from Clarkson spent a
couple of days at the Garvey
Homestead.
