Teams and dignitaries from the six municipalities involved, attended the affair. The afternoon opened with; introductions by Dr. John Un- derwood, President of the HCMSA. Master of Ceremonies, for the afternoon _.was Tom -Wor- thington, Recreation Director of the Goderich Psychiatric Hospital. The afternoon consisted oto a patient's comedy act, a film of the 1971) World Soccer Cham- pionship _held in Mexico, folk singing with Grant S. Elliott and Bill MacLennan, and a sing -a -long led by Deni O'Don- nell. Frank Sills, Mayor of Seaforth; was also invited- to speak on the Huron County's' soccer background. One interesting point voiced by Mr. Sills was that during the end 'of ri:e 19th centum, Huron County won the Canada Soccer title for three consecutive years. The Huron Minor Socier season began in early June and ended in late September. This season, some 14 games were played along with many exhibition game`. Sunday afternoon was The Goderich PeeWees, coached by Barry Buchanan, won the PeeWee championship. Their captain was Gord Budny while Wilmer Mitchell was the goaltender. Members of. the team were Paul Nurse, _Mike Mil.ley, Steve Chase, Crary Green, Ken Carrick, Janiie McGee, Ricky Stoddard, Mark Bellinger, Danny MacLean, Danny '.Wilkinson and Mary Peters. Despite being defeated 16-0 by the powerful Stoneyhrook squad, all was not gloom for the Atom All -Stars. Coach Richard Madge was pleased with the way his team con- tinued to try even though ob- viously out -classed in size and ability. Stoneyhrook was playing their fifth game while it was the first for the Goderich team. Coach Madge feels that, with lots of work, hig'team will be competitive in its own league. Six players scored twice for Stoneybrook. They were David Randerson, Kevin Lars, Brian Holmes, Bob Curtis, Cam Mills and Steve Nicolle. Singles wept to Jamie Allen, John Davis; Don Ashman and Steve M_acGillivary. The well balan- ced scoring indicates the over - .all power of the Stoneybrook ' team.
