(staff photo) New florid milk prices Ontario dairy farmers who produce milk for table use are to receive an additional $1.23 per hundredweight for. their milk, effective Oct. 1. This follows an agreement between Canada and Ontario as an- nounced today by Federal Agriculture Minister, Eugene Whelan. • In addition to the increase to producers, 'the agreement W. J. Demme FLOWER SHOP DAVIDSON WELL -DRILLING LIMITED TARIO'S FINEST, WATER WELLS SINCE 1900•' E BOX,486. WINGHAM - OR .PHONE 6357-1960 Agent for 24 -hr. FILM DEVELOPING provides for a roll -back of one cent per quart to the consumer from current prices, im- mediately. A consumer price in- crease of approximately 3 cents per quart had been planned for Oct. 1. • The action on fluid milk prices `was made possible by a Federal consumer subsidy of five cents per quart. From the consumer stand- point it means that the price in- crease of 3 cents per quart planned for Oct. 1 will be avoided and there will be a one cent reduction in price to the consumer. It is our understan- ding that the price reduction will be in effect' during the week of Oct. 15. The other cent is being used to stabilize the prices over the next year. Provision in the agreement has been made for a re -opening of disucssions on prices if cur- undrecumstances warrant it. The $1.23 increase per hun- dredweight dweight raises the farm price for raw milk in Southern Ontario from $7.90 to $9.13 per • hundredweight, and in Nor- thern Ontario from .,-$8.47 to $9.70 per hundredweight.
