The regular meeting of the
Huron -Perth County Roman
Catholic Separate School
Board, which regularly starts
at 8 p.m. did not get underway
last week in Seaforth until
about 10:15 p.m. because of
prior meetings'.
The first meeting to cause
part of the delay was a commit-
tee -of -the whole meeting by the
Board which ran into the
regular meeting time.
E i lr)wing this the Hoard accep-
ted an invitation from the
teachers under its jurisdiction
to meet with them at St. James
Separate School in Seaforth to
hear a brief clarifying the
position Of the teachers with
regard to salary negotiations to
date.
The first business of the
regular meet iti'g was approval
of the Board's Personnel Com-
mittee to continue to meet with
the Teacher's' Salary
Negotiating Committee to con
tinue to meet with the teachers
on the salary negotiations. The
two committees will arrange a
date agreeable to.both.
Howard Shantz of Stratford,.
chairman of the ad hoc commit-
tee on building projects, repor-
ted the addition and the
alterations at Holy Name of
Mary School in St. Marys were
completed except for some
possible minor details. He
reported the parking lot at the
school was gravelled at a cost
of $415, a sidewalk at the side
of the -school constructed at a
cost of $412 and a new ceiling
and stair tower added at a cyst
of $184.
Mr. Shantz said, there was
still painting, tile' laying and
landscaping to be done at St.
Aloysius School in Stratford,.
the site of the other big
building project this past sum-
mer..

if someone from Stratford
Counc►I could attend the next
hoard meeting to give more
details of exactly what the City
plans for. the area. Mr. Shantz
said he wvould ask Alderman
1)avid Rae if it might he
possible for hire to attend.
The majority of the members
of the Board agreed that the
whole 10.8 acres of Iand.should
be kept by the board at the
present time and not sell `any
part of it to the City.
The Perth Branch of the On-
tain. Humane Society_ will be
pt•rniitted to Circulate forms in
the Stratford- separate schools

mittee to come to some
agreement on assistance. Thee.

Two new separate school
zones have been established in
the Village of Blyth in Huron
County 'Township, school sec-
tion No. 6, in Perth County.
An ad hoc committee was set
up to look into the possibilities
of applying for a L.I.P. grant
from the federal government
tieing offered at this time where
projects may be carried out
using , unemployed - workers.
Named to the committee were
Ted Geoffrey of RR 2, Zurich;
Patrick Carty of Stratford; Ar-
thur E. Haid of RR 4, Listowel;
and Donald Crowley of RR 2,
Gadshill.

Superintendent - of Education,
reminded the Board members
that the V.D. Kit, proposed to
show' the school students star-
ting at Grade 7, will be
previewed by the Board mem-
bers and priests of the Huron -
Perth Deanery on October 15,
with' Dr. Erank Mills .of the
Huron County Health Unit in
attendance. They will consider
wh Yther they wish the Kit to be
used in the separate schools in
Huron and Perth.
