Celebrate golden anniversary
Lifetime residents in -the Goderich area, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bisset, celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary Wednesday at their home on 153 Warren St. in Goderich.
Mrs. Bisset is the former Emily MacArthur of Goderich. a
Mr. and Mrs. ,Bisset were married in the Old Knox Church back in, 1923 by Rev.43..C. McDer-
mid.
"The church we were married in burned to the ground in 1950." said Mrs. Bisset.
Mr. Bisset's father started a dairy business back in 1896, and he and his -five brothers took
over the business in 1925.
"Our specialty was ice-cream and butter," he said.
The Bissets lived in Goderich for 31 years• before their. 16 year stay in Saltford Heights. They
have been back in Goderich for the past three years.
The Bissets have two children, Rev. Robert M. Bisset of Ayonton-Motherwell, and a
daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Mary Jane "Molly") Mansz, of Goderich. There are eight gr: "children.
Mr. Bisset also has one brother, Peter, who celebrated his 90th birthday on ► y 4th. He
resides at Saltford Heights.
Last Sunday, a family gathering took place at the Bisset home. Approximately 65 members of
the family attended.
The highlight of the day was when the. couple's nephews and nieces presented themwith a'
basket of 50 yellow roses.
"We've been married. twice as long its we lived at home and yet, our childhood days seem a
lot longer. The memories of those days run on .for eternity," said Mrs. Bisset.

The eighth annual Colborne
Township Christmas Country
Fair " •dnesday, October "17
and Saturday, October 20 will
feature in addition to the
almost 30 local crafts, the
skilled creations of many area
craftsmen.
Eggshell Craft follows an
age-old European custoin of
gifting an ornamental egg at
Christmas, Easter and other
memorable occasions. It is a
real goose egg, hardened by a
special prcoess, worthy of
becoming a family heirloom or
part of a collection.
The eggs are mainly Jewel
Boxes decorated with • pearls,
stones, braids and are fully
lined with satin. Some also are
to have music boxes inside of
them, and are done in a _
Chinese mode. There will 'also
be real hen eggs done as jewel
boxes - lined and jewelled.
Pottery will be su plied by
Mrs'. Sheila G y, a new
resident in the Dungannon
community and Mr. and Mrs.
Vaughn Stewart, well known in
the area as skilled potters.
Timothy St. Louis,._also a
new resident of the Clinton,
community and a college
graduate in arts and crafts, is
to have a wide range of contem-
porary artistic crafts, many
suitable for Christmas table
centres, swags etc.
Grand Master Toys of Embro
Will have a display of -their
hand constructed toys of white
pine and hardwood dowels.
Dowels and glue are used to
secure all the pieces together so
they are very safe for children.
Mrs. Joyce Monteith of
Exeter refinishes old pine
framed mirrors and she is to
have several sizes for sale. Mrs.
Rita Conrad of St. Marys area
will have De Coupage done_.on
pine blocks and sortie on slate.
Mrs. Carol Knapton of near
Orangeville has an especially
interesting display of hand
carved leather wall plaques,
unitlue moulded leather
animals, hand cut and painted
bone pendants.
John Plumtree of Clinton
and his sister Katherine long-
time friends and promoters of
the "Christmas Country Fair"
will have their usual fine
display of woodturning and
needlepoint. John's latest is a
miniature butter press which
has proved popular.
The Christmas Country Fair,
a co-operative craft show put
on by the craftsmen themselves
who each advertise the show in
their own areas is a well known
tourist attraction. Several

a Roll -o -flex._
The event was highlighted by
the appearance ' of modified
drivers from the Michigan cir-
cuit and was a third in a series
of five to decide the Ontario
Champions.
