OCTOBER 4, 1973 Juniors win fir Fame The Huron -Perth girls' basketball schedule started here last Thursday with the GDCI girls defeating Central Huron 28-12 in the junior game, but losing 41-31 in the senior contest. Kris Maillet led the GDCI juniors with seven points while Lori Keller added six and Jai Ginn five. Chris Wildgen and Marg Kovacs each contributed four points and Judy Taylor had two points for the winners. For . Central Huron, Judy McKinley with three points was the leading scorer. Coach Madeleine Quick regarded the offensive output of her team as an encouraging sign for future games. Coach Audrey Howe's senior team fell behind in the first half, but rallied in the third quarter to pull within four points of the Clinton girls. Marlene Cunningham scored 20 points to lead Central Huron to victor OtherCaton scorers were Sandra `p-Pemlin,. Mary Jean Cameron; 't. 4 ,rion Thompson, Pat Curnm,u p and Pat Kay. Members include Lori Beattie, Sherry Boyce, Brenda Brissette, Becky Crawford, Carole Cruickshank, Mary Ellen McGill, Donna Mitchelmore, Laura Ross, Jane Smith, and Brenda Thompson: Michele Cruickshank is team manager. Both girls teams see action twice here this week, with Seaforth and Stratford "Central playing Tuesday and Thursday respectively, with games star- ting at 2 p.m. LOCHAL.SH, NEWS Sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Henry MacKenzie- and family in the passing of Mr. MacKenzie on Saturday after a lengthy illness. Miss Edna Cook of Owen Sound spent several days in the MacKenzie home, caring for Henry and being. with her sister as they cared for him in his- home where 'he- had been - born and lived his entire life. He will be greatly' missed by family, friends and neighbours. It has been beautiful summer like weather, following the rain's of the previous week, and farmers are busy with corn har- vest, ploughing.and general fall work. Moving, during the past week seems to have been the fashion with Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Bradley moving to Lucknow,' Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gibson and family ° moving into the Bradley home, Mr. and Mrs. P ul Tremblay and family 'moving into the.former Atidrew Barkwell home, now o red by Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Campbell. -Mrs. Florence MacKenzie, Mrs. Frank MacLeninan, and Mrs. Duncan Farrish along with Mrs. Don ,Ainslie of ,- Toronto enjoyed a few days, holidays on a'trip 'East through the ThousandIsland area. The Pee Wees never ' got on track against the strong Hamilton boys, who are still in the Ontario Cup, and lost to them 6-1. The Bantams also lost to the Ontario quarter finalists 2-1 However a professional coach and referee from Hamilton said that although this team was from a small town, it' had more talent than he thought possible. The game was evenly played Playing in. goal Casey Wildgen stopped a penalty shot by Hamilton apd at half time the score was 0-0 Hamilton opened up in the second half, taking advantage of the wind and scored two goals. The Falcons came back and pinned the city boys in their own half. With 10 minutes left Bill Nurse scored from'25 yards out with•a well placed free kick.
