During 960 duty hours and
the patrol of 9,304 miles of
highways and other .roads over
the past week the local detach-
ment of the O:P.P. investigated
eight accidents involving five -
cases qj, property damage, two
jnjurielt#iand one death.
Officers laid: 36 charges un-
der the Highway Traffic Act
and issued 51 warnings to
motorists.
Eighteen other charges were
laid under the Liquor Control
Att and one under the
Criminal Code of Canada.
In other activities officers an-
swered • 13 ,requests for
assistance, conducted one
prisoner escort and in Provin-
cial Court, Criminal Division at
Goderich, obtained 40 'convic-
tions under the H.T.A., fiv un-
der the L.C.A. and one nder
the. C.C.
There were several fine
displays and crafts which were
an added attraction in the hall
this year;• and a number of con-
cessions were on the grounds. It
is not too soon to begin to plan
to participate ,in 1974 Fair.
Dungannon and area folk
were interested in the "Sunday
Supplement" program on
C.B.C. prepared and presented
by Jim and Beverley , Reed
giving interviews in several
homes in Goderich. It was on°
from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Miss Pearl Congram
discovered a sprig of blossoms
on her pear tree on September
25 and thought it worth telling

Ben Caldwell from Windsor ,
visited his sister following his
trip to the West Coast of
Canada, California, Nevada
and Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Young
from Auburn Heights,
Michigan visited Mr. and Mrs.
Lorne Ivers and other friends
on Tuesday.
Quite a number from here
have attended the Inter-
national Ploughing Match ' at
Alvinston during the past week.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Eedy ac-
companied by Mr. and Mrs.
H.J.L. Eedy visited in
Mississauga on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Eedy and
twin daughters.
On Sunday afternoon Rev.
and Mrs. Clifford Manning
from Allenford were guests of
Rev. and Mrs. Clarence
McClenaghan.

this community. He was happy
to attend Dungannon Fair on
Thursday - the second time

Mrs. N. Moffat and Mrs. F.
Freeman from St. Thomas are
visiting relatives in this area,
and attended church service in
Dungannon Sunday morning
with their nephew Ronald Pen-
tland from- Nile. The house
where Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Irvin
.now live was built by their
father.
Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Irvin en-
joyed last week visit -11v.
relatives and friends, Mr. .and
Mrs. Jim Steele, Mr. and Mrs.
Wesley Alton, Miss Olive
Blake, Mrs. Ian MacRae and
' Mrs. Grace Mclvor in London,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stirling and
Darlene at Thamesville and at-
tended the Ploughing Match.
They also called to visit Rev.
Jas. Bright in Beamsville.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Stor-
mes from Kitchener spent a few
days with Mrs. Cecil Blake this
week. On the . weekend Mrs.
Grant Sowerby, Thornhill, and
Barbar'a Blake from Toronto
were home.
Little five-year-old Susan
Curran, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph . Curran was in
University Holpital, London,
for an operation on her ear. She
got home again on Tuesday.
Jamie Bere is concerned that
someone must have lost a little
Collie dog, black and brown in
color. Jamie says it has a tag
and has had its rabies shots. It
has been wandering the streets
this week.
DUNGANNON W.I.
Mrs. Clifford Purdon was
hostess to Dungannon W.I. for
their meeting, September 27. In
the absence of the president,
Mrs. G. McNee, vice-president,
welcomed members and guests.
Many thoughtful answers were
given to the roll call, "Our duty
to a New Canadian."
Following the business, Mrs.
Blake" read the resolutions to
° be presented at the area con-
vention. Mrs. Wilmer Rutledge
and Mrs. Cecil Blake were ap-
pointed delegates to the Huron
County Rally at•tralia Oc-
tober 1.
The Bazaarr and bake sale for
Huronview..,:Mctober 3 was an-
nounceq., An invitation to a
social evehing, October 9 was
received from Goderich .Town-
shipPresident Mrs. Har-
vey Alton sent a request that
each member write her idea of
a good way to celebrate the In-
stitute Anniversary in 1974 and
hand it in at the October
meeting.
The.. motto and constant ef-
forts and frequent mistakes are
the stepping stones of genius,"
was taken by Mrs. Errington.
She stated, "Too many give up
too soon. Those who get on in
the world are not daunted by
mistakes. Defeat is education if
we learn to use it."
Miss Beth McConnell g a

"Daughters of Fame."
Mrs. McNee expressed the
pleasure of everyone at the
good attendance, thanked Mrs.
Purdon for her home, and
thanked everyone who con-
tributed to the meeting. Lunch
was served by Mrs. I. Rivett,
Mrs. F. Young and Mrs. C,
McClenaghan.

always looking for new mem-
bers who have a love for music
and are willing,to practice each
