Weather on Lake Huron has
not been particularly kind to
barge shipping during the past
month and early Thursday
morning forced the tug Helen
'M. McAllister and her barge
into ` Goderich harbor. High
waves threatened to swamp the
low barge from behind.
High waves also threatened
to damage the valuable cargo, a-
new nuclear reactor for the
Bruce Generating Station at
Douglas Point north of Kincar-
dine.
The huge reactor " was
manufactured by the Canadian

Vickers Company Ltd. of Mon-
treal and the tug and barge
were on their way from Mon-
treal to Douglas Point.
Upon arrival at the
generating station the barge
will be floated into a specially
constructed harbor and secured
in a slip. The reactor is moun-
ted on specially desigtled
railway wheels and steel
tracking which will be joined to
tracks at the Douglas Point
complex and the reactor towed
off the barge and up to the
generating station.

since they were stationed . at
High River, Alberta four years

Captain McKenzie was born
at Flin Flon, Manitoba and
lived in that community until
moving to Toronto, to train at
the Army's training center
there, for two years.
After completion of her two
years at the Toronto Center she
was posted to work. _at. Y r
million, Alberta where she
stayed six months before tran-
sferred to St. Marys, Ontario.
Following 18 months at St.
Marys, Captain McKenzie was
posted back to Alberta fog one
and one half years and then
transfer to Calgary. She
assumed her duties at Goderich
early July this year.
Captain Herber is a native of
Chilliwack, British Columbia
where she liveduntil reporting
to Toronto for her training at
the Salvation Army cuter.
After completing her work
there -she lived and worked at
Nipawin in northern Saskat-
chewan for two years and was

Her past two yews of Army
work were spent in Calgary and
she moved to Goderich in early
July of this year as well.
At Goderich the Captains
will be ` responsible '. for the
regular ministerial duties of the
corps as well as its social ser -

The Captains will also work
with the Army'sjlome League
which . meets every Wednesday
'and involves itself , with
missionary work and other
projects in the community,
work with the weekly •Bible
study classes on Thursday
evenings; ,the Singing Com-
pany (or Junior Choir) on
Thursdays; and the teen Bible
- study group, the Cdrvettes,,
each week.
The Captains will also con-
duct regular Sunday services at
11 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday
School at 9 a.m.
Mrs. Monica Robinson, a
counsellor and high school
teacher from New Zealand, was
guest speaker when , the
Superannuated Teachers group
held 'its regular meeting last
Wednesday at the home of Mrs.
1B. Morris.
Mrs. Robinson spoke to the
meeting about her work in the
school system of New Zealand
and discussed the structure of
the schools and education
process.
Superannuated Teachers
group president Mrs. L. Cline
was in charge of the meeting
and welcomed Miss E.
Lockhart as a new member to
the group.
The -teachers --also---agreed to
make a donation to the Heart
Fund in memory of the late
Mrs. T. Donnelly.
,,. The meeting heard a presen-
tation from Mr. Bruce Jonas
who spoke in- detail on the
Canada Health Insurance plan
which supplements O.H.I.P.
Refreshments were . served
following the meeting by Mrs.
Morris and Miss. B. Campbell. \
The next meeting is to be held
at the home of Mrs. Armstrong.
