ROBERTSON ROUNDUP
In Mrs. Freeman's Grade 1
class we have been talking
about our pets.
First we cut out pictures - of
them and then we painted
them. Now we are making pet
books.
Amanda's mother brought
her bird to school on Friday. It
eats oatmeal and lives in a cage
until its sore wing gets better.
It was fun seeing her pet.
In Mrs. Cook's class we have
started to learn about the
Maritime Provinces. Last
Friday we enjoyed the pictures.
that Fraser Abbott, John
Peters, and Vickey Monroe
brought. They have told us
many interesting things about
the provinces, as they have
visited relatives living there.
In Grade 2, Mrs. Jefferson
and her pupils have been
studying vegetables and fruits '
and during their art class they
made vegetable people by
arranging a variety of fruits
and vegetables, so that the
finished product resembled a
person.
Mrs. Norman and her Grade
4 class have also been very
busy studying plants, fruits and
vegetables.
• Along this -theme the class
made pictures of a ' vegetable
parade. Each member of the
class planted coleus or foliage.
Her students are also learning
about water and land forms.
In Grade 5 Miss Bonthron's
pupils .wrote poems with the
fall and autumn season in
mind.
Each poem was placed on a
bright colored paper leaf and
have been placed on the
bulletin board. The leaves
brighten up the room along
with the "Our Family"
hooklets that each student
made.
This idea was used to help
acquaint all pupils and to let
others know their interests and
hobbies.
Many- of the junior boys are
participating in the noon hour
games of soccer. Each team has
chosen its own team name and
a captain is in charge of each.
The pee-wees are in the lead
with five points with Robert
McDonald as captain.
Following along behind 'are 'the
Tiger Cats with John Bird eag"
captain, and the Panthers un-
der Danny Mailett are both
tied for second place with three
,points a piece. The fourth team
are the Lions with Larry
Madge as captain with one
point.

Mrs. Braid, our French
teacher, has organized a French
'Club and a French choir.
This week students' of ,rdll
grades are taking part in a
French contest. Each student
must design in her own way the
cover of her French Diction-
naire. From each class a book
will be ,chosen by a selected
group of people.
It has been a very eventful
week for the pupils of Robert-
son School. The week has gone
by quickly because everybody
has been so busy.
In case of fire the school has
been practising fire drills at
least twice a week. The record
is 35 seconds flat-' However,
when Mr. Bissett tested us last
week the weather was cold and
we didn't maintain our record.
Mr. Leggett has put a list up
on the bulletin board for grade
seven and eight boys who wish
to play flag football. The boys
seem very , enthusiastic and
have the list full already.
A track has been;cut around
the football standards for prac-
tising for the cross-country race
which is corning up on October'
10. The tryouts are Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday after
school,
There will be 48 juniors and
seniors competing from Robert-
son.
