The show was convened by 8dna Shaw and judged by Mrs. J. Dominion Roads Trophy, for the best arrangement in the show, went to Mary Carroll. The Sheaffer Pen Co. Trophy, for the ' highest number of points in the Horticultural Section, went to Mrs. J.H. Johnstone.. Eaton's Prize, for highest number of points in the Arrangement Section, was won by Mary Carroll. Goderich Garden Club Prize, for the highest number of points in the whole show, went to Mrs. J.H. Johnstone. Minor hockey coaches can. attend new clinic. Ron Smith, Technical Direc- tor for the Ontario Hockey Association announced last Friday that an extensive Hockey Coaching Clinic Series, and Hockey Development program will be instituted in Ontario for the coming season, as an aid to all minor hockey association coaches, managers, executives and players. At the same time Hanoser Recreation Director Don Gravett announced that two of the official National Coaches' Certification Program clinics will be held at the Hancver Coliseum this fall. Goderich Minor Hockey Association president Jim Peters, in an interview with the Signal Star this week, said that the association has made no definite plans about sending coaches from Goderich to the Hanover clinics. He explained that on October 13 London Knights° coach Bill Long will be in Goderich to give a day long clinic to local coaches but any additional in- struction for the local minor hockey leaders had not been decided upon. The Coaching Clinics, part of the National Coaches' Cer- tification Program from TAC of the CAHA and Hockey Canada, and sponsored by MOLSON's Brewery, willbe presented in three formats. ',Level 1" a three-hour basic clinic, will be offered in over 100 com- munities; "Level 2", a one -day clinic. in association with Don Hayes Hockey Schools, is being hosted by fifteen cities; and "Level 3", a series of eight three-hour lectures, presented in some thirty locations. Also available will be a Beginners' Program for teaching players under eight, a Hockey DeveloPment guide 8- 18, and membership in an association called the Ontario Hockey Coaches' Association. The programs are all being of -4 feted through the Technical Director's office in co-operation with the Ottawa District Hockey' Association, and the Thunder Bay Hockey Association with assistance by the Sport_.._ and Recreation branch. Level One of the program, which,is open to all coaches of Hous League and "All.&ar" teams will ,take place in the Hanovei Coliarum Monday, October 29, beginning at 1:00 p.m. There will be 1111 hours spent in the lecture room. and. another 11M hours spent on the ice. Registration fee for the three hour session as assessed by the O.H.A. is only per per- son. Level Three of the National Coaching Program" will also be held at the Coliseum starting Monday, November 5. This will be the first of an eight week. program and will begin at 7:00 with 11/2 hours in the lecture 'room and terminate with 11/2 hours of actual ice sessions. Cost of ,Level Three is $20.00 per -person and will be limited to 25 people. Persons graduating from level three will be allowed to attend Level Four, the. National Level, free of charge. To be eligible for Level Three, coaches must have graduated from the first two Levels.,,, . One of the second level coaching clinics is taking plice in Kitchener at the Don Hayes Hockey School held at the Grand River Arena, October 20 Cost per person is $8.00. for this one -day, eight hour clinic. referee's clinic at Hanover Jim Peters, president of the Goderich Minor Hockey Association, confirmed last week that .the local association will be sending a number of Goderich referees to Hanover November 17 when the Ontario Minor Hockey Association will be holding its annual referee's clinic at the Hanover coliseum. Mr. Peters said plans for the delegation were not complete as yet and that the final num- ber of representatives from Goderich had not been decided upon. All referees who have their officiating cards, and any other persons interested in obtaining referees cards for the 1973-74 season, should attend, this clinic according to Recreation Director Don Gravett of Hanover. "It is imperative that `all referees with cards attend in order to have their cards renewed, while others seeking cards for • the first time, must • attend in order to obtain • them'," he explains.
