ing experience for any woman, but the burden
is double -fold for the young bride. She must
-consider the likes and_ dislikes of her newly
acquired husband.
The 'first decorating • problem to tackle is
the floor. A Tug, an expensive oriental or the
10‘' carpet tiles, is an investment that will pay
off in the years ahead.
A rug may los- rolled up and taken to the
next apartment, Or house the couple acquires.
It may -be used as thr focal point of the new
apartment, and is the foundation on which
the other furniture is placed.

(,ETTiN(. THAT ehr, torage space from
precious living space is as much a problem as
a limited budget to cover expenses for a first
apartment.
But now it's easy to program a;small apart-
ment for'Iiving and ,storage with a "money's -
no -object" look.
Leading furniture manufacturers have
taken the new, bride's special decorating and
budget needs- into consideration. They're
building storage • assets into furniture that
are designed to decoratively line walls, there-
by. freeing the rest of the room for living.
FOR EXAMPLE, new bedroom and dining
room collections feature the architectural de-
tailing that once appeared on the walls and is
now a popular decorative asset to furniture.
Now furniture is suspended from the -ovalis.
At the same time, cabinets and chests are
storage btpanzas.
The other types of first apartment furni-
ture are the. "early attic" and "late base-
ment" variety.
They are obtained at a low cost (usually
free) and suffice until a budget allows new
furniture.

for creating a comfortable home environment.

of her new husband and come up xvith a
workable solution. She has combined the best
of two opinions into one decorating theme.
