HINT: When chipping, the' ob.ective is to'land the -ball just on the green and make it roll the rest of the way to the "hole. A good rule to follow is to chip with the least lofted club that will get your ball to the green.. Remember that the more loft the club has, the less roll there will -be once the ball lands on the green., TEE HEE: "Oh, you beast!" she cried: "Golf, golf, golf! That's all you ever think about. And just whom haa it got me?" Go, ich United went to Clinton o play a scheduled league game and for the second week in succession won by the identical score of 5-0. The game opened on a somewhat sloppy pace, the players taking a long time to settle down to play good soccer. After twenty minutes Goderich took the lead, Refflinghaus sent a beautiful crossfield pass to Fisher who in turn sent a rocket shot past the Clinton keeper from twenty yards out. Goderich were now in com- mand playing fast powerful soc- cer and Refflinghaus made it two up for the United. Taking a pass from John Gottschalk he beat two defencemen and lashed the ball into the net giving .the goalkeeper no chance. Clinton were playing a strong stuffy defensive game but Goderich were not to be denied and after 40 minutes Bill Wedlock made it three up for the United, taking a pass from Clare Sager. He turned on a terrific turn of speed and from close to the bye .line he sent a shot in that completely deceived the Clinton keeper. Half-time Goderich 3, Clinton 0. . The second half opened with Goderich still dominating the play but the Clinton keeper was playing a very good game rrob- bing Brian Allen on numerous occasions. Allen, who played a very strong game for Goderich came very close to scoring on a number of times. • Fisher scored his second goal after teen minutes of the second half and completed his hat - trick ten minutes later. His second goal was a carbon copy of his first one. His third goal had so much power in the shot he sent in that the keeper stop- ped it but the ball got away from him and entered the net. The Goderich half -back line must take a lot of credit for this win, as they were strong in defence and also carried the bath ate= fed their forwards with great passes. Both teams played a very clean game and it was enjoyed by the fairly large amount of fans, at least half of them travelling from Goderich. The game was well controlled by a very efficient referee. The Goderich Executive of this fine soccer team would like to see a lot more people suppor- ting them at their home games especially in their drive towards the championship of the Londono and District Soccer League as the players are sure WASHCAR Speaterad by Grade 8, St. Mary's School U SATURDAY SEPT. 22nd. 10 A.M.
