Three tenders, to load and haul approximately 10,000 cubic yards of "B" gravel, received by the Road Superin- tendent, were opened at this time. A motion by Councillor Rutherford, seconded by Coun- cillor Durnin accepted the ten- der of Don Hunking, Clinton, at 37 cents per cu. yd. Applications received by the Clerk for the position of Dump' Superintendent were then opened. On motion of Coun- cillors Foran and Durnin, Council accepted the ap- plication of James Devereaux for a probationary six-month period. Benmiller UCW plans fowl 'supper Benmiller U.C.W. September meeting was held in the church with 11 members present and one visitor. Mrs. Doreen Willis opened the meeting ,,with a verse. Mrs. Ralph .Jewel read the scripture. The-nffering was taken up by Mavis Fisher and Mrs. Warr said an offering prayer. Roll call and minutes were read and reports from the com- mittees and group leaders were overheard. Plans to have the annual fowl supper late in October were started. Groups are organizing to houseclean the church in, time for Anniversary Services September :30. WI appoints two for fall rally The September meeting of the Goderich Branch of the W.I. was held in the MacKay Hall, .with 19 members and one visitor answering the roll call, which was "The Responsibility of a W.I. member." Mrs. .G. Morley, president, welcomed all present and asked that the minutes of last meeting, treasurer's report, and correspondimce be read at this time: A bake -sale, ,on October 3, at- . Huronview will be held and the W.I. members are asked for baking. The fall rally will be held in Centralia, on October 1, with Mrs. N. Clairmont, and Mrs. E. Sitter, as- local delegates. An invitation will by sent to Wingham and Belgrave Bran- ches of W.I. to be guests at the . October meeting. Birthday greetings were sung for Mrs. H. Talmay and Mrs. B. Mills. Mrs. F. Barker, program con- vener,oread a poem on public relations, written by Mrs. Grace Tolbert, of Maryland, U.S.A. Miss Chick Allison, of C F Pt London, and formerly of C K N X was guest speaker. She told that part of her work was to assist Bill Brady on the "Open -Line", over C F She had much to tell about public relations. A question and answer period proved very informative. The fall schedules of C.F P L– and C K N X were passed out to members. Mrs. H. Talmay and hostesses served a dainty lunch while a sing -song was enjoyed by all. A motion by Councillors Rutherford and Hickey authorized the Clerk to adver- tise in three local papers for two weeks, that the Township Dump would be closed on Sep- tember 22 with the two-day per ti week opening to con►Inence 00 Saturday, September 29 and Monday, October 1. A letter from the Huron County Health Unit regarding the licensing of food premises in the County was placed before Council, f No action was taken.
