The sun is burning but the wind is COOL, so you're able to sleep and work once again. Whew -- I hope that hot weather misses us again for a good many years. 1 don't mind the HEAT - but the HUMIDITY - it was just like living in Windsor again. Son. Dori was up a week ago and looked haggard and worn out. Said" he'd had no.sleep in three nites - and first thing we knew he was sound asleep out the chaise - and we let him sleep., In Essex County and Detroit area the nites don't cool down as they do here, so it is pretty hard to sleep when it is M5° or more. Thinking vacations were over, we had a nice surprise when Walts' brother, Ira, and 'Rorie as I call her, arrived with a dear friend the fellows had grown up with. Brother comes from Windsor, but Tommy and wife Ruth whom we hadn't seen in seven years, live in Regina, Sask. Tommy is a real army - sergeant type since he is about 6 ft. 4 and near 300 lbs. Ruth is a lovely redheaded freckle -faced gal whose -quick laughter makes you love her at once. Many things, can happen in seven years - hard to believe it was THAT long, but they with their family had been in a car accident. Ruth was badly injured, they nearly lost her. Now, her outlook on life is elec- trifying - she is so glad to he alive! So, you can see why it was a wonderful weekend, no. sleep for anyone the first nite - well - very little - and the "remember whens" were hilarious. Those devils. got into more mischief than you could "shake a stick at" - and a•few of those sticks found the seat of their pants. - Over the years I've heard a great many tales about their youth - fun, hard work - and ha.rds'hips - altho' THEY didn't think they were so had. IUs Easterners couldn't have taken it, r know) I hear Walt was .toppitcher in their hall league in "his day - 'hut didri4t get any recognition becauserhe was from the dust howl of the West. Each excelled in a dif- ferent way but: all knew the hardships of the barren 30's. This all changed when 'they came East. Baseball wasn't the ,only thing they played - You should hear about some of their other games!, The firsr-evenin -was most enjc"cable - especially when gamed 'up with another pair of Westerners - 'our neigh- bours, Margaret and Alf. Later the wives tried to break up the party and get them to bed. NO WAY! Well, we're all rested, now. Sunday by seven everyone was stretched out in fr,+nt of the 'i' V civ 4:3(1 they were all in h'd. What a ridiculous hour. 1 watched '1'V alone. And so it goes - but we can think back with a chuckle. In orie cAiner of my kitchen I began hanging my friends and relatives'- pictures, that is --as I came across them in my un- picking. Now it is a real cc►n yersation piece with a good many "I'II be darned" remarks to he heard. something of Earl Nightingale "Our Changing World". It was about How Young are You? One bit that sticks in my mind is this: You are as young as your faith - as old as your doubt; as young as -your self confidence, as old as your fear. Youth is not a time of life — it's a state of mind. Don't be concerned about how OLD you are but - rather holy young. Think about jt. Love, Martha. I think, now, I'll just leave it, dust change some of the photos and snaps now and again. It slakes a good 'Memory Cor- ner', and every home should have one. Not lung ago 1 heard one of the boys of CKNX ducting Pro-life group plan programs A Meeting of the Goderich Pro -Life Group was held last Thursday to make plans for their fall program.
