The program traces the iden-
tity and power of Jesus Christ,
in whose name the assenibly is
made. He is presented in
creation as the "light...that
enlightens mankind". Por-
trayed are his life of service, his
death and resurrection, and his
pouring out of his spirit upon
so doing they call all values
other than those of Mammon --
antiquated. "I don't know how
to love him."
The town of Goderich places
a _Meer Garden" in its center
for its Summer Fest. In so
doing it relegates all values
other than those of Mammon to
,obscurity. "I don't know how
to love him." "'
The population of the U.S.
agrees with the President to put
Watergate in the Past. In so
doing they ignore what they
believe to be wrong doing in or-
der to worship Mammon. "I
don't know how to love him."
These haunting words from
the Opera belong on the lips of
all of us. We are caught in; the
servitude of our whims which
are the priests of Mammon. In
the words of John Newton:
Weak is the effort of my heart,
And cold my warmest thought;
but when I see thee as thou art,
I'll praise thee as I ought.
Mary Magdalene recognizes
the wondrous reality of this
man Jesus and goes out to live
a new life. Not a life free from
his followers. The p '.gramtr
brings praise and wors ip of_ all tantalizing whims; but a life
ferings to the Lord, invites love now in the camp of God. Judas
and fellowship to one another,
introduces the plan of salvation
to all who may not be presen-
ted in the Christian experience,
and anticipates the Second Ad-
vent of Jesus Christ, the hope "
which inspires purity and
discipleship. ,The theme of
reconciliation is featured in
"Turn the hearts of the
children to the parents; turn
the hearts of the parents to
their young: Turn the hearts of
us all to one another; turn the
recognizesthe impracticability
of this man in the light of the
power cif Mammon and goes
out and hangs himself. There
is a difference between trying to
love him and giving up.
While driving down the high-
way a sign caught my eye. The
message of the sign was, Dat-
sun Saves. That sums it up for
me. Life places all of us in the
position where as the Prophet
says: "Choose this day, whom
ye will serve." Jesus Saves--

Nostalgic gospel songs are
sung with contemporary tunes,
including ":What a friend We
Have in Jesus", "I Love To
Tell the Story", "Jesus Loves
Me This I Know", !.'My Jesus, I
Love Thee" and "Praise CUod

fellowship is based on the ad-
monition, "Freely you have

'.'Good So Loved the World That
He Gave His Only Begotten

version of John's vision" of a
heavenly choir singing "Worthy

throughout is the theme "Come

Best of all, of course, is
singing .praises to God which
seem to lift out spirits and un-
block a channel to him who has
'chosen us for joy'. Jesus,
talking. to -his disciples, said "I
have told you these things that
my joy might be in.you and that
your joy might be complete".
LAUGHING CAVALIER.
OR GLOOMY GUS?
One Sunday, a little girl was
visiting her grandlfather, a
dour, old man. When she got
out her dolls and began to sing
and play happily he chided her
to 'put away those things and
stop making that unchristian
noise hey;iiIse it's the Sabbath'.
So she wandered listlessly
into the yard and spied the dog
dancing and yapping around a'
tree where he had 'chased a
squirrel.
"Stop that noise, Rover,"
she scolded as she boxed his
ears, "Don't you know it's Sun-
day?"
Then meandering into the
barn she approached Nellie, the
mule. Stroking 'the sad -
looking, old creature she
sighed, "You must be an awful
good Christian, Nellie, you've
got a long face . just like
Grampa."
Nothing does more to turn
others off Christianity than to
see long -faced, critical, in-
tolerant, pessimistic Christians.
To be sure we are- faced with
the fact tha' there is much
wrong in the world and that all
of us are wrong-doers...but we
are saved from our sins by the
grace of Christ and therin lies
our joy.
Someone has said the
Christian is the laughing
cavalier of Christ. To be a
gloomy gus is a contradiction of
our faith! We Christians need
to show the world we really
believe what we preach..that
Cod is in control no matter
how badly things look or feel
and that we really do have
something to sing about!

ON SINGING PRAISES
Each time we meet, always say
Some word of praise that
makes me gay.
You see some
struggling trait,
Encourage it and make it great
Tight fisted little buds of good
Bloom large because you said
they would.
A glad, mad music in me sings;
My soul sprouts tiny flaming
wings
My day takes on a brand new
zest.
Your gift of praising brings
forth my best,
Revives my spirit, flings it high;
For God loves praise, and so do
I .
