The horses are also cleaned and groomed ,the night before. This particular show the students were preparing for was the -Elmira F -al -- air last Saturday. Two of the three people riding from Sunfield Acres were performing for their first time in a show. Both girls were destined to bring home ribbons their first time out. They are Susan Besmondi visiting from Southend Essex England and Dawneen McKen- zie from Sarnia. The third girl riding was Cindy Grant of Waterloo. Cindy is the veteran of the ' trio having performed and taken home ribbons from the Canadian National Exhibition and the Woodstock Fair this year. Cindy also won ribbons Saturday at Elmira. It was a. bustle of activity from - early Saturday morning until the show was completed Saturday evening. In the heat and humidity of the afternoon things were" tense for both the horses and riders as they scurried' about getting ready for their various classes. At times, _they would finishone class and have to prepare immediately for the next one. The nervousness of the riders which was quite evident on the trip down to Elmira seemed to disappear as they paraded into the show ring. The girls that worried so much prior to the show seemed to suddenly turn into attractive young ladies who looked very proud to be in the ring on their beautiful mounts. After the show, tack was re- packed, horses were watered and led into the trailers and all participants breathed „ an audible sigh of relief. On the trip home, the girls' .who were so nervous earlier in the day,. were relaxed and joking but all the while greatly anticipating their next show. As Burt Bean stated, "After one or two shows, you're hooked, it -'s- in your blood." --- "We are dedicated to .hor- sernanahiW" stated Mrs. Zona), neveld. "There is no doubt that the future graduates of this riding school will be just as dedicated to that cause." "You have to love it to be in 'WER INTEREST RATES Now Available On 1ST.
