Plan Dinner Theatre
for Iast play in '73
BY
SHIRLEY J, KELLER
The first mystery of the
season Pink String and Sealing
Wax written by Roland Petree
was portrayed last week at
Huron Country Playhouse.
The play, a delightful blend of
comedy and suspense, was en-
joyed by the opening -night
audience.
Top performers were M. E.
Evans whg has been superb in
every role he's been handed
this. season; Joan I -Janna who
was suitably proper as the un-
derstanding wife and mother;
and Kathleen Forget as Eva,
their very young daughter.
Miss Forget who played Mrs.
Edgar, the elderly maid with
very few lines in The Reluctant
Debutante, was excellent as the
talkative child in Pink String.
This talented actress is a
student in the drama depart-
ment.at the University of Wind-
sor and also was associated
with the Orillia Playhouse
Theatre Company.
'Jeanne Beauvais gave a con-
vincing performance as the
murderess in Pink String.
Allan Stratton was back as her
youthful lover and handled the
a great evening's entertainment

role with a„ considerable•
amount of ease which seemed
toe'be missing in his previous
appearances.
The" stage setting was good
although not coming up to the
standard set . in The Reluctant
Debutante. The gas lights were
effective although one would
have' expected them to be used
more often for 'the creation of
even more atmosphere.
The last play this season
began last night. It is The
Hand That Cradles The Rock,
a Canadian -comedy by Warren
Graven.
Each evening this weekend,
the play will be preceded by
dinner served in the barn
-, lobby. The main course will in-
clude roast sirloin of beef and
dessert will be authentic
English,Trifle prepared by Mrs.
Maureen Hill, Auburn. (The
Signal -Star is carrying an ar-
ticle this week about -Mrs. Hill
.and her famous trifle.)
If you haven't visited the
Playhouse so far this season,
make sure you get down there
this weekend. The atmosphere
is new and different. The
people are friendly. The enter
tainment is good.

The bears are not a problem
Tref Algonquin Park this sum-
mer. The Ontario Safety
League campsite at Lake of
Two Rivers had received only
one visitation from a friendly
and very shy fellow who fled at
the first sound. It was a dif-
ferent situation -last year when
forty of "•these magnificent
animals had to be shot 'and
others (anquillized and depor-
ted by truck to less populated
areas.
`But is it the bears' fault?
Here is a quote from a 'Park's
publication:
-"Feeding a bear is both
stupid and cruel. It is stupid
because it teaches the bear that
you are the source of food and
then it is unrealistic to suppose
that the bear will know that
food, thrown on the ground is
"his" and. food in a pack or
cooler is "yours". Feeding a
bear is cruel because the bear,
having been 'corrupted by
thoughtless people, becomes so
destructive in its quest for food
that eventually it has to be
destroyed. F"
But further, the Ontario
Safety Lea'ue states, the bear's
foraging inAtinct should not be
tempted by leaving food easily
available on the campsite.
