Maybe more of us are getting
the message and using trash
containers and litter. 'bags.
Heaven knows the message has
been repeated in our ears often
enough.
Litter breeds more litter. If
there is already junk on the
ground, we don't feel quite so
bad about adding to the mess.
In some areas that is how
garbage dumps, with all the at-
tendant dangers of rats, open
burning and potential for
disease, begin.
The first bit of trash left
leads to a second, then a third.
When enough accumulates,
people just accept the spot as a
dump and use it for .their gar;
bage.
Fortunately,, garbage dumps
are on their way out in Ontario.
On the road, you see more and
more dumps closing to be
replaced by sanitary landfill
sites, operated in a safe, clean
.and unobtrusive manner.
If we keep it up, we may get

Well, it's Holiday ,a+t}'eekedd"
time again, 'and naturally the
Sunset has something planned
just for you.
It will all start on Sunday,
September 2nd, at -a o'clock;-
with a mixed Scotch Two Ball.
It's fun; come out arid give it a
whirl!
Following this event, there
will be a barbecue and corn
roast. Fresh sweet corn will be
a real treat to top off the event.
One never, knows what will
follow the meal, but more than
likely I suspect a party and
dance. I hope, to see you at the
course on this particular day.
There is fun for all.
Give us a call at the
Clubhouse if you are going to
participate. We just want to
have a rough estimate on how
much food to prepare.
This won't be our big party
of the year since Championship .

most participants enjoy very
much. We hope it to be even

While talking about tour-
naments, the Junior In-
vitational Tournament at the
Sunset took .place yesterday.
The results from this event will
next weeks hews.
Some of our Junior members
took part very successfully in
the Seaforth Tournament last
Thursday. The Reclour brothers
were up to their old tricks with
Don receiving first Low Gross
for the day and Dave second
Low Net.
Dennis Reed also made an
excellent showing by receiving
fourth Low " Net.
Congratulations Boys!

Men's Night was somewhat a

Ladies' Night, thanks to
Mary Lynne turned out to be a
night of golf and dance. Some
' Scottishh Country dancing
lessons were given to the ladies.
I think overall she decided she
would rather teach children.

Industrial Softball League
big tourney this weekend
The Town of Goderich will
host , this weekend Ontario's
largest industrial softball tour-
nament.
The tournament sponsored
by the Goderich Industrial
League will begin Friday
evening, last through Saturday
and Sunday and wind up with
championship games Monday
evening;
Among the 28 teams entered
in this weekend's event are en-
tries from London, Sarnia,
Stratford, Kitchener, Toronto,
Windsor and Petrolia in the
"A" division, and Goderich,
Listowel, Campbellville,
Bluevale, Elmira, Hensall,
Lucknow, Blyth and ' Huron
Park in the "B" division.
The official opening for the
tournament is sceduled for 1:30
p.m. Saturday afternoon when
Ooderich Mayor Harry Worsell
will. throw out the "first ball
prior to the Sarnia-Walkerville
encounter.
Admission for the four days
of baseball is only 25 cents. All
of ' the _ tickets sold will be
placed in a large drum and
prizes will be awarded to
owners of the drawn tickets.
This tournament, the fifth
annual, will be officiated by
members of the St. Mary s Um-
pire Association.
All of the trophies to be
awarded at the tournament
were supplied free of charge by
O'Keefe Carling Breweries
Limited. •

Agricultural Park. Spectators
not only will be able to ,watch
these . exciting 'contests in the
cool shade of the grandstand,
but will be able to obtain a cool
beverage in the arena which
will be licensed 'for the entire
weekend.
