Goderich goalie Wilmer Mit- chell was credited with saving the game three times as Seaforth pressed hard to sink the ball in the local net. Goderich Peewees have not lost a game in two years. This season their record runs seven wins and one tie. They have scored 26 goals having only ,eight goals scored against them. Leading goal scorer for the season is Mark Bellinger. A trophy will be'donated to the team by Dr. Michael Conlon who will also per- sonally present the- trophy to the °winners later this fall. Bob, who is the Pro at London's East Park Gardens, is a real entertainer at heart, as well as an excellent golfer. He put on a 'dazzling display of "rights and wrongs", and made. it all look so simple! At Ladies' Night last week, we played Monkey Golf, which was a lot of fun. Each member of a threesome chose one Club, and played • in turn. It As sur- prising what can happen when you are teeing off with a putter! The first prize went to the team of Marie Huff, Carolle Moore and Joy Hutchins. giicond prize went to the team of HazeL Beazer, Irla Stewart, and "'Mary Lou Durnin. The team which won Third prize con- sisted.,of Maxine Martin, Betty Etue, Ginger Shortreed, and Ardith Brissette. The evening ended with a scrumptious corn roast. Two of our ladies did very well at the Walkerton In- vitational Tournament a couple of weeks ago. Maxine Martin won the First Low Gross in the First Flight, and Dorothy Worgan won the First Low Net in the Third Flight. Nice game girls! Next week at Ladies' Night, we hope to be able to have some films. The men hada good turnout on Monday, inspite of the chilly damp weather. Ken Hall led the troops this time, followed by Ross McDaniel, John Schneiker, and Karl Campbell. -The final. Inter -club match took place last Sunday in Wingham. In the' final stan- ding,. Goderich came in second, which is a pretty good show. They ended up in this order: - Walkerton;_ Goderich, Kincar- dine; and Wingham. " ' Entries are corning in WANT MIS WORK. Art Mountford reports that the Club Championship is proglressing very well, with the second round under way. Next week at Men's Night, John Mason will be showing some very good films about golf (rated 'G1. There will be a Junior Girls Tournament in Kincardine, ,September 8th at 10 a.m. Any girls interested should contact the Pro Shop. This would be very good experience as well as a lot of fun. Thefirst annual Father and Son Tournament was held at the Maitland on Saturday, August 18, with twenty-four couples in contention. The event was organized by the leaders of the Junior Golf Program. The winners of the event were Doug and Ron Hesk, who accepted an elegant desk set• donated by Sheaffer Pen Com- pany. The other winners were: - 2nd - John and Paul MacKay; 3rd Bill and John Hanly; 4th - Tony and Tony Bedard; 5th - Dick and ' Alan Worgar>♦, and Bob and Larry McDougall. The winners in the Men's division were Ed Jessop, 1st nine, and Jim Britnell 2nd. nine. The winners of the son's division were: Steve Davey - 1st nine and Andrew Harper and Richard Rawson, 2nd nine. McLean, publisher of the Huron Ex- positor it Seaforth, was elected president of the Canadian Community, Newspapers Association at the group's an- nual convention held last week in Calgary, Alberta. Canadian delegation to the United Nations at New York. Following his election as C.C.N.A. president Mr. McLean was quoted as saying that the weekly community newspapers are filling an increasingly im- portant role, something the dailies in population centres do not do because of their commit- ments and impersonality. Students from the Goderich District Collegiate area who are attending the Goderich District Collegiate and Central Huron Secondary $pool In Clinton will report to the Goderich Collegiate. School will start at the regular time, on Tuesday, September 4th, 8:55 a.m. All buses will travel at the regular time Tuesday morning. Buses will leave the Goderich Collegiate at 2:55 p.m. on, Tuesday, September 4th (one hour earlier than usual).
