The Canadian play by author
Eric Nicol "Like Father, Like
Fun" was on stage last week at
Huron Country Playhouse.
Directed by James Murphy, the
production was set in Van-
couver which immediately
helped theatre -goers identify
with the action on stage.
There's something about an
all Canadian play which
warms the heart of even the
Canadian play warmed Canadian hearts at Huron Country' Playhouse
most theatrically astute
Canadian audience.
Once again, the design of the
set was tremendous. Under the
canvas and on the raw boards
of the Playhouse stage, the set
managed' to take on the ap-
pearance of an expensive Van-
couver home, and that must
have been some trick for the
designer, Tayie _Abdel-Rehem.
The play itself was good,
although there was a promise
of more fun and frolic than
ever really materialized before
the curtain went down. The ac-
tors and actresses were still
plagued with the problem
which has haunted them since,
the beginning of the season -
'flubbed lines - but audiences
have learned to overlook this
even though some of the' play's
most hilarious scenes came off
a little short of the mark
because of it.
Joan Hanna was back on
stage in tl'iis production as Mrs.
Canleron Clark after a year's
absence. This, talented actress
was in a couple of last year's
Playhouse offerings and sle
turned in another sparkling
performance last week.
Best actor award for this
play had to go to Bob Windsor
who played the father, Cam
Clark Sr. Windsor, who has
been seen on many TV shows
including Famous Jury Trials,
Corwin and McQueen, was
making his first appearance on
the Playhouse stage and the
audience received him with
gusto.
Rob Garrison, who has been
in almost all this season's play
at the Playhouse, was steady
and dependable again. This
good-looking actor has shown
remarkable versatility, a much
sought after quality especially
in ,hummer stock. In this
production, Garrison played
the unhappy public relations
man in Cam Clark Sr.'s firm.
Gillen,' Walsh, the romantic
interest in the play, was ably
portrayed by the lovely and
vibrant Candace O'Connor.
Miss O'Connor was excellent as
the pretty ploy hired by Cam
Clark Sr. to instruct Cam Clark
Jr. in the ways of the world.
Allan Stratton who made his
first appearance in the Fans
tasticks was cast as ,CAM Clark
Jr. This youthful actor is still
searching for his stage lege but
with a, few more opportunities
like this most recent one,. he'll
be a favorite with theatre
audiences in this part of the
country.
