As BATIK and TIE and Dye
artist, Kay specializes in
creating designs on pure China us
silk. She es her another's old
quilting frames to support the
silk and her designs are
beautiful.
These are made into scarves
an dress lengths - some up to
six yards - and she can copy a
customer's favorite design in
this media. Tie die - or dye -
gives delicate, subtle tones of
one color gently blending into
another.
Batik - in comparison - gives
a hard edge effect but a
desirable crackling and she
combines both media in some
scarves.
There are never two scarves
or lengths exactly alike but
kimiiarities are possible,_ Kay
likes to attend the different
Craft Shows around the
district, enjoys meeting people
and talking' about her silks. To
date there are ` many . lovely
dresses and gowns made of her
designs of which she is justly
proud.
