Over the put weekend the
community of Zurich opened a
new facility in its commercial
canter. A summer market, un-
der canvas, will now offer the
community residents and
visitors fresh produce.
The idea of a summer market
in Zurich originated during the
preparation of the Secondary
Plan and zoning by-law for the
village. A` number of
businessmen suggested that the
village' shopping area should
establish a "special theme"
that would promote the village
as -an enjoyable and convenient
place to visit. -
This "special theme" was to
be initiated, in a number of
ways ranging from a downtown
paint -up-to--.-a core renewal
program that would entail lan-
dscaping, paving, parking and
pedestrian facilities. Also
suggested at that time was a
summer market. '

Street, north of Highway 84.

tent structures, each accom:
modating three sales stalls. -
Each tent measures 12 feet by

Each tent has a wood super
structure that is demountable
for disassembly and reassembly
and a roof of multi -colored can-
vas.
Plans for the project were'
made by County Planner Nick
` Hill who was given a budget of
$500. The material costs

'the addition of sales tax and
other miscellaneous items the
final figure worked out to juet
about the budgeted amount.
