when a motion was introduced
by councillor Leroy Harrison to
pass a resolution accepting The

held • the first' of two outdoor
shoots at Feagan's gravel pit,
next match to be held on
August 14 at 7:00 p.m.
The standard National
MatchCoursewas shot with
.22 calibre pistols with the
following scores out of a
possible 300: Ed Roberts 245;
Glen McMichael 150; Clarence
Chisholm 272; .Jitn Naftel 163;
Bob Morgan 218; Jack Marriott
186; Percy McClenaghan 220;

After 'the match a novelty
shoot with balloons and clay
pigeons was held. -Following
this a demonstration oflarge
bare `center •fire handgun
shooting by Jack Marriott, NEd
Roberts, • Clarence Chisholm
and Butch MacLaren rounded
out the evening shooting.
The club members then -
retired to the home of Butch
MacLaren where lunch and
refreshments were served
beside a roaring fire in the back
yard.
When the item was originally
introduced Mrs. Haydon im-
mediately addressed the
meeting by making a motion
that the report -b 4abled-to- give
the, councillors time to review
the latest changes introduced
in the plan. -
Mrs. Haydon saidthat she
had only received her copy of
the,, latest proposal earlier
Thursday afternoon and to the
best of her knowledge the other
members had only received the
material just previous to the
beginning of council meeting
that evening.
Councillor Harrison then in-
troduced - his prepared motion,
seconded by councillor Eileen
Palmer, recommending accep-
tance of the report.
Councillor Haydon asked
how he could make the motion
when the draft, report hadjust
been given to him less than one
hour eatiier.
"We have had no time to
study this matter,', she said.
said.
Harrison explained that he
had picked up a copy the
previous afternoon from the ,
Town Clerk's Oft,e.
Mrs. Haydon rose to ask how
this could be possible since
Town Administrator/ Harold
Walls ,had told her he was not
circulating the proposal but
would distribute it at Thursday
evening's meeting.
"I had to practically steal my
copy from his office this after-
noon,'' she said. •
During this exchange Mayor
Worsell told Councillor
Haydon to "sit down" saying
that she had , already been
"heard from on the matter
once:" tt
•Mrs. Haydon challerfged the
Mayor asking where it said in
procedure rules that a coun-
ts cillor could not e peak as often
as he or she liked.
"There is a time limit of 10
minutes on speeches," she
pointed out, "but nothing says
that I can nnly'speak once on
a matter."

and Mrs. Haydon went on to
remind `the meeting that her
motion to table the matter had
been placed on the floor

previouto Councillor
Harrison's and would have to
be dealt with.
The ensuing vote carried the
motion and the report was
tabled. <for further study until
the next Town Council
meeting.
Afterward Mrs. Haydon said
that council had been "waiting.
so may years" for the final
storm sewer report that it
seemed strange they were, so
Unwilling to wait "another two
weeks.''
She also pointed out that
Mrs. Palmer ' had seconded
Councillor Harrison's motion
without even having read the
revised report.
"These things should- be
studied," she stressed. "We
can't just approve- something
without reading it."
• In an interview with the
Signal -Star Administrator
Walls explained that such
reports are never circulated
and that the sewer report was
no exception.
"I distributed 'it prior to the
meeting as always," he said.

added.
