Earl Reaburn has just retur-
ned home from a most `en-
joyable:holiday. He, along with
his sister Janice of Burlington,
were with a party of Univer-
sity stµlients and friends on a
"Caving Study" in West
Virginia.
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Whalen
and family have returned home
from holidays in Nova Scotia
and Cape Breton. While there
they attended the wedding of
,their son,, Dean, 'who was
married in River John, N.S. on
June 23 to Susan McGrath,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Gregory McGrath of Bedford,
N.S. in -If- beautiful "outside
wedding" setting.
Mrs. Joe Armstrong and
grandson Pat and friend Susan
Bender, all of Detroit, visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Terence
Hunter over the weekend.

have taken up' residence on

William, Westlake and Mr.

started building their new

ready for occupancy. They will

Peter Bisset marks
his 90th birthday
PETER BISSET
A' well known and highly
respected resident of Colborne
Township, Peter Bisset
celebrated . his 90th birthday
last week, July 4.
A family gathering- of about
60 relatives gathered at his
home Sunday, July '1 to wish'
him well. This has been a
yearly occasion for the past 10
years.
On Wednesday, July 4, the.
date of his birthday, his niece,
Mrs. Peter, (Barb) Ralston of
Islington had a dinner party for
him when cousins gathered to
honor him in his home at -Salt -
ford Heights. ,
Mr. Bisset or "• Pete" as
everybody knows him, was one
of the Bisset's of Bisset Bros. of
Saltford Heights and .-.is._in_good
health and enjoying life. He has
been a resident of Colborne all
his life. -
Besides the we▪ ll wishes of his
relatives he received several
telegrams and cards, and his
many friends join iri' extending
happy- birthday wishes.

notable traffic safety records in
1972 were --congratulated and
thanked by the Hon. Gordon
Carton, Q.C., Minister of Tran-
sportation and Com-
munications, in Toronto, July
5.
The Citation Awards lun-
cheon attended by Goderich
Mayor Harry Worsell, was
given by the Ontario , Safety
League and chaired by OSL
President Donald H. Hartford.
The event was sponsored by
Labatt's Ontario Breweries"
Ltd. .
"Mr. Carton said that the
awards - marked tremendous •
achievement for each com-
munity, particularly tQn7
sidering the great increase in
cars and drivers on our roads.
He noted, however, that despite
the -efforts of the various com-
munities, police departments,
and safety organizations,`traffic
fatalities were still 'on the in-
crease.
The Minister said that in
1972, the first full year for
which, information on seat belt
use was recorded, 54.4 percent
of the drivers killed in Ontario
had seat belts but were not
using them; 63.2 percent of
drivers injured . in 1972 were
not "wearing their installed seat
belts.
Mr: Carton stated that the -
Government was taking a close
lookat mandatory use of seat
belts.
Concluding, Mr. Carton said
that his Ministry is developing
