The South Huron Christian
Women's Club held their mon-
thly song service in the chapel
on Sunday evening with special
music supplied -by a, group of
young people.
Marie Flynn, of Clinton,
joined Norman Speir and Jerry
Collins to provide the music for
Monday's activities A new
resident, Mr Sharp of
Goderich. was welcomed to the
Home.
The Country- I)ri e, spon-
sored by the Hien of Exeter
United Church, took place on
Monday evening. Well over one
hundred residents took advan-
tage of the two-hour drive
through the country and with
ideal weather conditions was
rated as one of the highlights of
the year.
Twenty-six adopted Grand-
parents -.of the Clinton Ktnette
Club were treated . to a
smorgasbord ,.upper on
Tuesday evening in the Clinton
Public School cafeteria. Each of
the residents received a corsage
when they .arrived and
following the supped were en-
terteined at a social hour on
the school lawn.
The ladies of North Street
United Church, Goderich. en-
tertained their senior citizen
and shut-in members on Wed-
nesday afternoon to a picnic
supper at the Church Camp.
One hundred and twenty-five
people attended the picnic,
which included nine from the
Home and all report a lovely
afternoon.
Twenty-four residents having
,June birthdays. ;,were honored
on Wednesday at a Birthday
Party provided by the Huron -
dale Women's Institute. The
President, Mrs. Carl Mills, in-
trc'fduced the program which in-
cluded a sing -a -long led by
Mrs. Cann, an arcordian solo
by David Rundle, vocal solos
by Cheryl Cann and Susan
Spence, a piano solo by Sandra
Stewart, Instrumentals by Mrs.
King, Maurice Quance, Cecil
Skinner and Norman Speir-
Gifts were presented Co the
celebrants following the singing
of Happy Birthday and lunch
was- served by the ladies. Mrs.
-Shapton, who this month
celebrated her 97th birthday,
expressed the appreciation of
the residents,
The Rhythm Band from the
Goderich Psychiatric Hospital
entertained the residents at the
family night program. Gordon
Harrison, leader of the band,
arranged an hour of variety
numbers. Miss Pearl Gi_dlev
tilled in with ,some piano in-
strumentals until , the enter-
tainers arrived. Mrs. Hackwell
thanked those taking part on
behalf of the residents.

Mr. and Mrs. Terence Hunter of R.R. 3 Goderich
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday after-
noon in the camp Menesetung Hall.
An "open house" was held during the day at which ap-
proximately 130 friends, family and well-wishers atteade.d to
give their greetings. Later, a smorgasbord supper was held
at the hall.
The happy couple were married on June 6, 1923 by Rev.
James' Hamilton in the Presbyterian Manse on East Street
in Goderich. They have two children, Elmer living at R.R. 3
- Goderich and daughter Mrs. John Carolyn Thompson of
`—R.R. 2 Seaforth.
Mr. Hunter who has been living on the same farm all of
his life, has belonged to such groups as the Ontario Farm
Federation, Colborne Township Council and the Colborne
d� of Education. Wife Edna is a life member of . the
U.C.W. of the United Church of Canada and also currently a
member of .the Tiger Dunlop Women's. Institute.
Guests on hand -came from such centres as Owen Sound,
Ottawa, Toronto, Stratford, Sarnia, Detroit, Mt. Clemens,
Michigan, New Jersey and Goderich and the surrounding
area.
Special greetings were received from Governor-General
Roland and Mrs. Michener, Robert Stanfield, Leader of the
Opposition, Robert McKinley, M.P., and .Jack Riddell,
M.P.P.
Mrs. Hunter summed it up for both of them when she said
"if everybody was as happy a parent as I have been, it cer-
tainly would be a wonderful world".
For the newly-weds, they have these few words of advice:
"Always be ready to give and take- in the -relationship and
try at all times to have consideration foe the -other person's
feelings", stated Mrs. Hunter. Mr. Hunter added that; "you
must not expect too much of your partner or expect he or she
to be perfect".
One guest stated, "to see the happiness in their faces, you
would think that it was their first anniversary instead of
their 50th".

Chapter IODE Pot Luck supper
was held Tuesday evening June
5 at the home of Mrs. Frank
Curry, Essex Street.
Mrs. W. McKellar, Regent,
was in charge of the business
meeting. Mrs. Gord McManus
reported for the Special
Projects committee. She said
that once again the chapter
would place the hanging
baskets on the light standards
downtown.
An invitation to attend the
Huron -Perth Regional School
of Nursing, Stratford
graduation ,ceremonies June 29
was read.
Mrs. Anderson, services con-
vener made her annual request
to the non -knitting and sewing
members to fill the nursery
bags.
Mrs. J. Wallace, Education
convener has received the ap-
plications from the Collegiate
for the bursaries offered by the
chapter.
It was reported - that a
Citizenship Court would be
held in the near future. --Mrs. R.
McCallum will be contacting
members when the date is set.
Speaking for the Ways 'and
Means Committee Mrs.
Planning
Stringer reported that the Wine
and Cheese Party would be
held September 29 at the
Maitland Golf and Country
Club.
It was moved by Mrs. H.
Murphy and seconded by Mrs.
G. McManus that we have a
spring luncheon.
Mrs. R. Breckenridge repor-
ted that the Opportunity Shop
will be re -locating and that
some research has been done in
finding new facilities.

welcomed into the chapter.

In order to serve better the
growing demand for financing
from businessmen and farmers
in. Huron County, a second In-
dustrial Development Bank
credit officer has been assigned
to this area ora full-time basis.
He is N.G.W. Peever, who
joined IDB a year ago
following a number of years in
banking and accounting.
Peever, a former resident of
Goderich, and J.D. Brinklow,
whois well known as IDB's
representative in Huron, will
make frequent visits to
Goderich, Exeter, Clinton,
Wingham, Seaforth • and other
communities to meet with
businessmen and farmers who
are interested in IDB financing.
