Arranged by the Advisory Services Department of the In- dustrial Development Bank, in co' -operation with The Goderich Businessmen's Association, the .ieminar will be one of a series in the new program of such ser - ices to be conducted by the gunk in smaller centres across Canada. Some 25 to 30 businessmen are expected to attend the' seminar, which will consider financial statements of a small business and the effect that an expansion has on them. The IDB, which was . �cabliskutd in 1944 as a sub- idiary of'the Bank of Canada, makes loans to businesses of all copes for a variety of purposes. Almost half of the bank's loans are for $25,000 or less and the hank is especially interested in sistrng smaller businesses. Guides, and continued at a busy . pace to include Hallowe'en parties, enrolments, Christmas concerts and of course, a lot of "good turns". There were two skating parties given by the Local Association (mothers) and these provided not only fun and food but a chance for about a hundred girls to earn their Skaters badges. All the Guides and Brownies attended a Church parade near Thinking Day, (This is February 22nd, the birthday of the group's founder Lord Baden:Powell) and each Pack -and—Company---held -a special meeting in honor of this event as well. Gold cords were presented to Brenda Thompson and Sally Stringer and Cindy Fisher received her Canada Cord. Some of the Brownies were in the Santa Claus parade, some took a trip to London to see the Ice Capades, and others held bake sales, went on hikes By O.M. Weatherwise it was a good day to -see the buildings and camp grounds. Welcome is extended to Mr.' nd M.rs. Marvin Smith from Toronto who have purchased new home of Gerrie Glenn's. on Joseph Street. They plan to spend weekends here until his retirement. Mr. a{rd Mrs. Joe Dauphin and Susan of Chatham spent he weekend with . Gary Dauphin at Crewe. Miss Beatrice McClenaghan who recently completed her fourth year at University in Winnipeg returned Thursday to 1�> home of. her parents, Rev. .nd Mrs.. Clarence McClenaghan. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moulton, Simcoe., visited on Tuesday with the former's father, Frank Mtutton,' and Mrs. Lillian MacDonald. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Badger from Calgary who have enjoyed a month's motor trill visiting relatives in_Michigan Ontario . JACK'S /i PLUMBER and Quebec, spent Saturday with'#ts. Cecil Blake and Bar- bara. _ On Wednesday evening Mrs. Blake and Barbara accom- panied Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ki1pa trick.of _W.ingham_tnAgin-_ court to attend' °a special evening honoring Palmer Kilpatrick who is retiring after 46 years of teaching. Before going to Toronto he taught at Crewe and then Dungannon. Congratulations to the students who have completed another grade at high school. Many are already at work in summer positions. Final exams may be written during this week to complete certain cour- ses. The 4-H Achievement Day for this area was held at Wingham on Saturday. and enjoyed cook -outs down at the beach. These are only some of the highlights of a fun -filled year. The regular weekly work on a program designed to help girls become happy useful citizens was never forgotten. In fact, even though the school year is nearly over, members hope the Guide year will be able to con- tinue all through the summer thanks to Camp Klahanie. It is already booked up for quite a few camps and there is a possibility of others as well. Before it can be enjoyed though, it must be made ready and volunteers are scheduled to get to work scrubbing and _ painting err Wednesday esday after- noon. All the Guides and Brownies in Goderich have been asked to lend -a -hand by donating something to the Bake Sale. Dungannon Women's In- stitute met Thursday at Beth McConnell's in Dungannon Mrs. Graham McNee, 1st vice president was in charge of the meeting. The roll call "a problem facing % youth ° today", led to discussions on several subjects, some being unemployment, drugs, generation gap, poor basic education, alcohol etc. Mrs. Brown moved a sincere vote of thanks to M. G. Errington and committee for the dinner served to the district annual when it met in Dungan- non on May 30. Mrs. McNee thanked the W.I., on behalf of District W.I., for entertaining the District at a very successful meeting. Mrs. Elmer Black' brought the 4H books and the garments that have been completed by the 10 girls in Dungannon No. 3 group. Mrs. Wilbur Brown gave everyone a lot to think about when she gave the motto. "A woman's home should be the centre of her w $rid, not the cir- cumference." Mrs. Graham McNee in- troduced Mrs. Harvey Mole of Lucknow who delighted everyone with a display of liquid' embroidery. Miss Iva Carr, Resolutions convener, was in charge of the topic. She said "Resolutions title -made by grotipe of people when problems arise. If we do not take advantage of resolutions we lose our oppor- tunity to speak out and to make changes." Miss Carr said the ladies should all,resolve to study their hand book. .�► Lunch hostesses were Mrs. J. Clement, Mrs. C. Blake and Mrs. L.
