decided to leave and I hope the
clunk didn't scare whoever was
in the room below. So that en-
ded that for the day as they
couldn't find another one.
(There's a thing some of the
clubs might check on as a nice
gift to the hospital,
During the' long hours of the
night there were only two nur-
ses on duty and you could hear
them reallyscurrying about -
and I'm one of these characters
who doesn't go to sleep as early
'as the rest of the ward does.
When_ one of these girls
checked on me and asked about
Traction, I had to tell her it
was broken and they hadn't
found another. This bit of
news, really bothered her and
later on she was back to' see if
she couldn't fix it in some way -
"I might be able to sew it by
hand" - (and secretly I won-
dered when she would ever get
the time). Anyway, we figured
out where and why the tapes
should be in certain places and
she disapp6ared with it,
Boy, I wouldn't have tried to
sew that thing by hand, as- it
had very strong tapes and the
corset type thing looked like it
was made of heavy duck - tent
type! Not too much later she
returned with the repaired
item. We both had to laugh at
the plain and fancy stitching, as
she had found ,a sewing
machine that worked - more or

less - and one color of thread
on one side with purple on the
other, looked good to both of
us.
When she relieved me from
the thing later, 4he brought me
a cup of tea • which really was
a life saver -- she will never
know how much her thought-
fulness and extra work meant
to me.
.rThoug,htfulness you quickly
spot in people dedicated to
their work - and I have to say
that they, surely have a lot of
caoncientious and dedicated
people in ,that hospital.
Well , here is the WALK-A-
THON I wondered about, being
walked for a real good cause..It
is a nonreligious theme, in a
moral,, legal and medical issue.
The Knights of Columbus are
the sponsors and funds raised
are to be used for ANTI-
ABORTION publicity. People
of many religions and faiths
still believe abortion is murder,,
that the unborn has a right to
live.
There is a nice prize for the
