FAVOURITES
Be a real live hero. Serve "Stand -Up Sandwiches by the Loaf".
Make one for your next outdoor buffet, whether a planned
affair or one that just_.happens on the spur of the moment
because everyone is hungry.
Whole Loaf Sandwiches are easy to make ,and serve and a
great way to use up leftovers.
If the crowd has had a busy day ou'doors, active in all sorts
of things, then they need a meal that will replenish their energy
supply. That loaf of bread is not just a filler. It's full of energy!
So use it as the base for some of the other protein, vitamins,
minerals and carbohydrates that are part of the meal.
Along with the "Whole Loaf Sandwich" serve a molded
pineapple -orange salad, your favorite potato salad, pickles,
olives and anything else you feel would be suitable, .
The young fry will enjoy "Whdle Loaf Sandwiches", too, but
cut down the size — use submarine rolls as miniature loaves
with their favorite filling.
For dessert serve delicious buttertarts with ice cream or
fruit.. Of course, these are ovailable any day at your local super-
market or bakery outlet.

breaded veal steaks are served

MUSHROOM SAUCE
1/4 cup chopped onion
114 cup diced celery
1 cup sliced mushrooms
2 tablespoons Nutter
1/2 teaspoon salt -
1 /4 teaspoon pepper

1 14 -ounce can tomatosauce._-.
12 cup finery chopped barn

Saute onion, celery sand
mushrooms in butter until
onion is transparent. Add
remaining ingredient.:._ ('over

piece's. Crush -soup mix and
combine with bread crumbs. "
Dip veal in crumbs, then in
combined eggs • and 2
tablespoons water and again in
crumbs. Brown meat in melted
butter until golden (:3 to 4
minutes each Side'). Place in
greased baking dish, add 1 /4
cup water, cover and hake at
:12' f' until almost tender
(about :30 minutes), turning
once or twice, during cooking.
(ncover and continue baking
until • tender (about 10
minutes). Arrange veai on ser,
ving dish. Pour M.ushroorn
Sauce over veal and garnish .
with slice°l stuffed olives if
desired. 6 servings.
* After the bowling game or
other sports, invitee`friends hack
for a frank fondue. To serve,
fill a fondue pot half full with
boiling beef broth or chicken
broth. Offer a tray of skinless
frankfurters cut. in 1 -inch
pieces, fondue forks or bamboo
dkewers. Cook the frank pieces
about 1/2 minute or until heated
through (keep the broth sim-
mering on the burner) and
provide a variety of sauces like
hot dog relish, sauce for at.acoa,
cheese sauce, chili sauce or sour
cream mixed with a little hor-
seradish:
