During the past week the
Goderich Police investigated
1:73, occurrences involving com-
plaints or calls for 'assistance.
Eight criminal occurrences
were reported and one•of these
proved to be • unfounded. The
offences were false pretences,
fraud, minor .theft -wilful
damage.
On two occasions . persons
had been using trees owned by
the Town of Goderich to attach
posters advertising produce
and forthcoming, events. Police
tookthese signs down' and`adl-
vised those responsible that af-
fixing posters to trees in the
town is against one of our local
By-laws. This is pointed out to
prevent any others violating
this particular law.
Local businessmen are
reminded that they or a mein-
ber of their staff should ensure
their .property is secure before
leaving for the night.
During -the past --month- the
Police have found a con-
siderable number of establish-
ments insecure during their
checks and last week this laxity
on the part 'Of some persons
still was apparent.

Well Golfers, are you back in
the groove yet? Don't worry if
you're not quite;' there is
usually an excuse. Last week it
was . the weather. That raw
- westerly wind and 40 degree
`temperatures just weren't a
golfer's fancy. Who can enjoy a
game burdened with lavers of
sweaters and coats? I think I
would be correct to say, not too
many.
Sunday did bring favourable
weather and following close
behind, were the golf bugs. But,
don't forget, the only way to
improve, is to: play. Everytitne
you have a chance. Feel free to
journey out and hit a few prac-
tice balls. A -couple hours could
solve a lot of problems.
After polling the golfers on
the weekend our Ladies' nite
will likely be Thursday. Men's
nite was a tie for Tuesday or
Wednesday. Let's break the tie
by calling or signing up in the
Pro -Shop for your preferred
night. Watch next week for fur-
ther details.

celebrate it with a big fun filled
weekend. On Sunday there will
be a Scotch Two Ball starting
at One o'clock. A buffet supper
will conclude the event. On
Monday we will begin, at eight
o'clock, with a Shot Gun Start.
A steak barbecue will conclude
the weekend. Everyone
welcome; greensfeers as well as
members. Please call or sign
the sheet in tide- Pro -Shop.
When reading in the Golf
Digest last week, I• came upon
an article on Golf tips by Bobby
Jones. I thought lyou may he in-
terested in what he said. After
the long hibernation be careful
not to, hurry or shorten the
backswing. Practice to
restimulate your sense of
timing, it is usually too fast,
never too slow. The third thing
is a tendency to lift the ball.in-
stead of striking it firmly down-
ward. This, he thinks, is due to
a sack left hand and wrist-
Also, when you are putting add
you are landing to the right, •
move the ball an inch or so
toward your left foot. If you are
landing to the left, "move the
ball toward the right foot.
I hope these will contribute
to your enjoyment of the game.

gossip,_we have a treat corning.
In. the next few weeks the
men's and ladies'- washroom),
shower, and sauna rooms will
he broadloomed. Won't that
feel nice ' on the feet after
playing a -round of golf? The
saunas are also open to all,
being very relaxing and
refreshing. New lockers are now
ordered and will be installed
for your convenience shortly.
Just recently our new theory
clubs and balls arrived. These
are the Ram XS -1000 clubs-
Titleist and Royal +6. The
clubs are designed to'. make
poor shots Netter and the balls
to give you more distance.
Sounds good, just what we
need.

girls, it is good relaxing fun
and you meet a lot of very nice
people . If you need equipment,
our starter sets, including
clubs, headcovers, cart and
halls are just what you need.
When you're out for a drive,
drop in and see our selection,
Also, for any beginners, in-
cluding juniors, there will be
free lessons available. Just give
its a= call and we will arrange a
suitable time. Think, through
time, you could be challenging
a pro or tackling par for the
course. •
Think Posjtive, and you'll
succeed. I think it was Jack
Nicklaus who once quipped,
"This is a mental game - when
i know I can win - I do. When I
Know I can't - I don't."
We hope to have a golf laugh
for you each week. Are you
ready? One woman's ex-
planation of why comparatively
fewer females play golf: "We
ladies have less important
things to. lie about."
See you at the tee in seventy-
