Real test coming on Sunday
as competitive season begins
Goderich United started the
soccer season with three-
exhibition games against St.
Colurnban, second division and
Clinton, third division.
Goderich won two games and
tied one.
The real test will start next
Sunday when - the competitive
soccer season will start by the
London and District Soccer
Association affiliated to `On-
tario Soccer Association.
' Goderich United will play at
the Agriculture park, the neigh-
bouring Clinton Soccer Club
who is also starting their first
season in London and District
:Soccer Association.
Clinton, although they lost
Saturday to Goderich United
were showing a lot of talent.
Huron County have now three
senior soccer clubs affiliated to
London and O.S.A. It looks like
the 1973 soccer season will
produce a lot of action and ex-
citement for soccer fans in
Huron County.
The members and players of

announced by Rec. Board
The Goderich Recreation
Board met last- week and
reviewed the list of recommen-
ded applicants for playground
and pool staff as put before
them by 'Recreation Director
Mike Dymond.
Considerable discussion cen-
tered on the proposals and the
list was referred back to the
Pool Committee with power to
act. The committee met with
Mr. Dymond on Friday mor-
ning and the following list of
summeremployees was ap-
proved.

win the series two games to
one. Gl'arke will ad 'ance to the

game apiece in their semi-final
series.
In Level 2 quarter -finals
Glen Wightman and Jim
Kingsley played a seven and a
half hour game which ended in
a stalemate as neither player
could obtain an advantage. The

first game of a best -of -three
semi-final series against Kirk
Lyndon. The winner of ' this
series will play against Tom
McGill in the finals.

at Agriculture p�' k Goderich
downed Clinton4iy two goals to
one. Goals were scored by Dave
Graf, one goal, 'Harold Ref-
flinghaus,` one goal.
Sunday, April 29, 197.3 at
Seaforth High School soccer
field Goderich tied a game with
St. Columban soccer-.- cl-ub,
second division, one goal each.

Goderich boys number
130 for Soccer teams
in five categories
In Goderich minor soccer
league up till Sunday 29 April
73,, 130 boys have registered,
two teams Squirts, 8 years and
under, two teams Atoms, 10
years and under, two teams
Mosquito, 12 years and under,
one team Pee-Wees, 14 years
-acid under, one team Bantam,
16 years and under.
Registration is still open un-
til the last week in May.
Because of the enormous`
response from Goderich boys
wanting to play soccer the
minor soccer association is in
desperate need of more
organizers, coaches, referees.
High School soccer players if
interested in coaching ,and or
refereeing are welcome.
H.M.S.A. is hoping to
arrange a coaches and referees
clinic which would be conduc-
ted at weekends by Sport On-
tario Coaches. As to the rest of
Huron County - Seaforth, Clin-
ton, Exeter and others are get-
ting organized and are facing
the same needs as Goderich.
Any Mothers interested in
refereeing minor games are
welcome to help. There are a
few Lady referees in Ontario
Minor Soccer already. Lets

In Level 3 finals Dennis Lit-
tle defeated Harold Kloeze two
games to one. Dennis Little has
now won the level 3 champion-
ship.
In Level 4 finals Rick
Kingsley defeated John
Seaman to take a one game to
nothing and one game tied
strangle -hold on the series.
Rickkonly needs a tie to win the
championship, however we are
sure John will put up a strong
battle to stay in contention.
