The Goderich Detachment of
the Ontario Provincial Police
report the investigation of two
motor vehicle accidents over
the past week which resulted in
property damage but no in-
juries.
In a total of 898 duty hours
Officers of the detachment
patrolled 6,826 miles of high-
way and other roads, laying 17
charges under the Highway
Traffic Act and 13 charges un-
der the Liquor Control Act.
They also issued 36 warnings to
motorists.
Investigations under the
Criminal Code included one
theft, three break and enters,
and three occurrences listed as
"other.s" in the weekly report.
Seventeen requests for
assistance were answered, one
prisoner escort conducted and
in Provincial Court 38 aconvic-
On Saturday 36, managers of the Dominion Road Machinery
Company Ltd. were honored at the Bedford Hotel for their suc-
cessful completion of a 16 week management development
course.
Since last November these managers have been 'rneeting
together on a weekly basis in sniall groups to discuss ways and
means of co-ordinating and improving their miles as super-
visors. The discussions were supplemented by material recor-
ded on cassette tape dealing with topics such as good setting,
motivations and leadership techniques.
The course was directed by Joe Morrissey of Guderich whose
own company progress dynamics has been serving companies
anf individuals in the personal development and leadership
field for the past year and one half in Southwestern``bntar.io:

Crippled Children.

tators viewed the run at
various points along Hully
Gully's challenging 26 mile
course which incorporated
swap passes,hill climbs, bush
trails and a hilarious river
crossing on the farm of (Wat)
Webster.

CHESS CLUB
The Chess Club of G.D.C.I.
defeated their Stratford Cen-
tral opponents 58 to 32 in a
ChessiTournament at the Strat-
ford school.
Reinhard Voelmle, who was
playing the player, tied in his
game. Tom McGill, Glen
Wightman, Harold Kloeze, Er-
nest McMillan, Ian Ross, Doug
Durnin and Glen Naylor won
their games. •
G.D.C.I. BAND
tiers take the new music course
offered for the first time this
year at G.D.C.I. Our music
teacher, and conductor is Mr.
A: Mullin.
Our uniforms also have
changed. The girls have new
navy skirts and the boys are
planning navy blazers.
After a most successful tour
the music students are now
planning Music Night which is
May 11.
The G.D.C.I. Viking Band
departed on their annual two-
day Spring Tour last Thursday
morning. The thirty-five
students played at Ower
Sound and Meaford Secondary
Schools on Thursday.. -
We were billetted in t
homes of Meaford music
students that night. The
Meaford school has a band
similar to ours, and an or-
chestra as well. They are very
enthusiastic^about the string in•
struments. Their music
program has been in operation
for a number of years.
The beach at Meaford looks
the same ae the Goderich beach
does at Present. H-iigh waters
have deposited stones and
debris over the sand.
The Meaford school is the
size of G.D.C.I. but is relatively
new.
Friday morning, we played
for the students of Elmira
Secondary School, then
travelled to Waterloo where a
tour through the University en-
ded our Spring Tour.
There are a number of
changes within the blind this
year. Most of the band mem-

national Debate.

A Huron County Debating
League has been founded and
is formed of the Debating Clubs
of Huron County secondary
schools.

DISPLAY CASE
The Science Department of
G.D.C.i. was responsible for the
most interesting and
imaginative arrangement of
materials ever in the display
case of the main corridor.
Amid the various lights,
wires and batteries were eight
experiments which the students
could put into operation by the.
use of buttons outside the
display case.
